I went to Brookdale MacArthur Park. They offer them breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the cafeteria. They had nurses and doctors on-site to come to visit them. My mother wouldn't have somebody there with her all the time, but they would check on her every day if she didn't check-in. I didn't have anything bad about it. I loved it. It was a beautiful community. Everybody was very professional and gracious. It supplied all the needs of the tenants. The staff was very personable and very informative. He was one of the managers, and he's very professional. They made me feel like they would take good care of my family member if they were there. They had a garden patio, a library, a beauty salon on-site, and several physical and occupational therapists there on-site.

We toured Brookdale MacArthur Park for my mother-in-law and father-in-law. It's a larger facility with more people. They were very helpful, and it seems like they know all the residents. They have very good communication and rapport with them. The rooms were clean and spacious. Our overall impression of it was really good. They were all very, loving, caring, and helpful. I can't tell you anyone that was not warm and helpful. It seemed like they were really caring. I saw a bingo room, a game room, and a movie theater. They had a nice porch on the front.

Brookdale MacArthur Park was lovely. I really liked it. I liked the environment. It was very beautiful and clean. I really liked the sales associate that gave us the information about pricing and how the facility works. They basically have studio apartments. They have a room that has a pool table in it for you to play pool and games. They also have a library and a beautiful dining room. The staff was friendly and informative. She was great.

My father stayed at Brookdale MacArthur Park. It wasn't great and they were always short staffed. You would call and you'd wait forever for somebody to come help. They won't even say they're sorry sometimes; they would just say they're short staffed. If you're short staffed every single day, that's a problem. The facility was beautiful. If you're 55 and able to enjoy it, you'd have a blast there. They need to staff appropriately rather than make excuses all the time that they're not staffed. They need to get more feedback about some of the people who work there. Some of them were not nice and not friendly.

My mother is in Brookdale. It is perfect with what we need. Everything is clean, and she is being taken care of. Everything is great. Everybody is friendly. It is a small community with good care. It has attentive nurses and attentive people. Their meals seem to be fine. They have a lot of activities.

I went to Brookdale MacArthur Park for my mother. Right now, it would be the first on our list because of its proximity to our house. We thought it was very nice. The people there were very nice. It seemed to be very nice. All the residents were very friendly. The scale of the community was very nice. It was not overwhelming. It was just like walking into your living room. It was really nice that way. It seemed like the food was OK. The residents were active, and friendly. They were very nicely invested in the residents. The room was fine for my mother. Everything was small.

My husband’s mom was previously at Brookdale MacArthur Park. We were very happy with it. The staff was great; they did a lot of activities and tried to include the families. The room was average size; it was nice and comfortable. The food was decent. I think they did a good job.

My mom had been in Brookdale MacArthur Park, and we understood that they had Medicaid beds there. We came to find out they did not have Medicaid beds there available, so I had to find something pretty much in a hurry. However, it was a very nice place. It was expensive, but they took very good care of my mother. The only problem I had was with their contract, which I was pretty sure it said they had Medicaid beds there. The people working there were fine.

I visited Brookdale MacArthur Park for my mother. It was a very nice place, but she was not eligible to be placed there. Nevertheless, the facility was very clean, and the people were very nice and very helpful. It was just a very nice community. Their food looked very healthy and good too.

We went to Carolina House, and I thought that they were more amenable to having people that were going to be coming in when they had more need of care. The staff seemed efficient. She was trying to answer all our questions, so I thought she was very good. What she showed us I thought was lovely -- sunroom, TV areas. They had just finished a music program. We also saw the place where the people would eat.

Carolina House is excellent and inviting. They have central dining area for everyone, it wasn't so big, and it is clean. The room is cozy. It is not too big. The surrounding is well-kept, and it is about a 20-year-old facility, but it doesn't look it. They keep it up-to-date and renovate it. The staff is professional; they dress well and work well.
With the care, the long term administrator, clean facility, and adequate room, the combination of all of these is the reason why we choose it.

My husband has decided with Carolina House of Cary. We’re just very pleased. It’s very clean. He’s in a companion room; there are two beds, two chests, two bedside tables, a recliner, and there’s a bathroom inside the room. All the staff is very knowledgeable and very friendly. My husband is happy so it’s OK.
He’s been there only a couple of weeks, so I can’t tell much about the activities. They mentioned and gave me a calendar of activities, but at this time, he doesn’t need them. He’s going to therapy three times and seven different ones. I haven’t eaten there, but he likes the food and the dining area. They have choices when they go. We are impressed that everybody knows his name, and he’s able to get around. They have a living room facility, a sun room facilit,y and different large areas that he can go to; he doesn’t just stay in his room.

He is at the Carolina House of Cary. He’s been there since the beginning of June. It did not go smoothly as we hoped initially. My dad’s needs are greater than an average person who is going to assisted living. So he had a couple of fault in the beginning and some issues. He buzzes for a caregiver to come and it takes 20 mins before a caregiver could come. However, the staff and the management are responsive now. They’re all nice to him and they talk to him. It has gotten better.
Overall, it’s a nice facility. I picked them after I looked at several because it has a homey feel more than an institutional feel. When you go in there, they have a library and little living spaces. He has a nice sized room. They do have activities in the activity room.
The biggest thing to me is the response time and the call system. He has a tiny call button and he doesn’t see it well. He pushes it and if they don’t come, he pushes it again for 6 times and he deactivates it. I’ve asked them if we could get a different kind, something bigger. The tiny red light comes up and I can’t see the light too. That was something I suggested to them. Some areas would be a 5 but some areas would be lower. However, I am satisfied and I’m not moving him.

I didn't like Carolina House much. During the tour, the lady was really nice. But I don't think the other staff was nice as she was. The rooms in the assisted living part were pretty small. It's much closer to my home.
