Twin Lakes Community was top notch. Everybody who worked with me (like the sales person) was very nice. They were very open and talked to me. They called me when I'd call them or had to leave a message. They'd call me back or something. They were very on top of things in communications. The nurse came in to talk to my friend and give her an assessment of where she needed to go. She was very professional, and gave my friend her test. That is when they said that she really belongs in memory care. I did not get to look at the whole facility. I didn't get to look at the memory care. We needed to make some decisions almost immediately. That is why we moved on from Twin Lakes. We just saw one room. It was the room that she would have been in. It was a corner room. It was very nice. It was large, clean, had a nice bathroom facility. Again, it was on the second floor. She would have had to use an elevator. I think that would have presented a problem for her. I think it's definitely safe. It was very clean. The campus is spacious. I think it would be a wonderful place to go. They have independent living. They have memory care. They have assisted living. They have all kinds of things available at Twin Lakes. It's just a huge community, and I think people who live there are very happy. I knew people who lived there.

I am currently at Twin Lakes Community. I'm very happy and very content, but they don't offer anything right now. I'm in my own home. I haven't been here long enough to know the staff.

I have been visiting TWC for the better part of 15 years as my parents have called it home for all these years. The Independent Living section was great but as they required additional help they moved into the Assisted Living section and now the Memory Care center. Generally here are my findings. Quality of housing is decent. Rooms are on the small side compared to other facilities and it isn't cheap. Staff is generally pretty good as well, even though staff turnover seems to be a problem. While many rave about the Restaurant food, I can tell you the resident food is their major shortcoming. Breakfast seems to be there best meal but it drops after that and drops fast. I have had cold food, I have had dried and hard food. And don't plan on enjoying a meal with your loved ones on Sunday because management isn't around and it shows. Grounds are beautiful and well kept. Holiday displays are unique. and a homerun.

I like the access to the lakes from the Twin Lakes property. It is a large property with a lot of green spaces. They have a nice, large hall for the memory care facility. There’s a fish tank and space for people to meet in groups. They have a monthly calendar of activities and a schedule for going out to restaurants and trips to the mall.

They have a large buy-in at Twin Lakes. For what I was looking at, it would be $90,000, but it is another $5,000 for a second person. Everything else was a fee for service; everything is extra. They do not provide a meal plan, a life alert pendant is $12 a month, and the housekeeping is $21 an hour with a minimum of two hours. For anything you want done, you have to pay extra. The rooms were nice, and the people who lived there were very nice; they all came and greeted us. They had Mahjong, bridge, a choir, pinnacle, ice cream socials, Scrabble, and a prayer group. They had a lot of different activities -- painting class, men's club, church -- so they had a calendar full of activities that you could participate in or not. We were given lunch, so we were able to go to the restaurant, but the refrigerator had broken over the weekend, and so they had a very limited menu the day we were there. The food was good.

I am very familiar with Twin Lakes. The staff is fantastic. I will say they have a first class staff there. If I want to go somewhere, I will want to be in that particular location. The food is delicious. They have 2 dining rooms. They have 1 in a separate facility, and they have one that is in the healthcare center. They are immaculate. From what I have observed, they have lots of activities like group activities. I like the ones that the physical therapist uses. I also like the beauty parlor that they have there. It is a fantastic facility.

We have close friends who live up in Twin Lakes Community. It is laid out nicely, and it has a very convivial and friendly atmosphere. They have a memory care program, assisted living, and nursing home. They have a workout counter, a smallish pool, and programs. The location is very nice because it's so close to stores and to Elon University. The people who live there love it. It's very comfortable.

My mother was in Twin Lakes for 3 weeks for rehab. She was happy there. The food was good and the cleanliness was excellent. The rooms didn’t impress me much, it was fairly clean. I did not see the memory care but I've heard it was really nice and also expensive.

I had my grandmother at Twin Lakes. They’re really nice, more upscale facility. The place is beautiful. It looked big, and the staff seemed very friendly and really helpful. They let me know every step of the way what’s about to happen. They’re very informative. In the skilled nursing facility, she gets 24/7 around-the-clock care. She is basically on her floor all the time. They have everything. They had a magician one time. They have a lady that comes every Tuesday who plays guitar and tries to get them all to sing. They seem to be pretty active.

The care that you will receive at Twin Lakes is one of the best in the state of North Carolina and the best in the county. You couldn't ask for a better place for anybody to live. They also have an Alzheimer's unit and they have very good doctors. Some of the staff there had been there 15 or 20 years. They have a very stable staff.

I had been to Twin Lakes and I was impressed with it. I liked the different styles and types of homes and apartments. The sales people were extremely nice. The residents were in their 80's but they were very active. They had lectures and activities.

From my experience there, I was very impressed by the quality of living and care the residents receive. When my children went there to do their Christmas chorus performance, we were greeted by a warm welcome of the workers and residents alike to make us feel like welcomed and appreciated. The one part of the facility was the memory unit for those who are living there with declined mental health and diseases such as Dementia and Alzheimer's. This area of the facility was designed to look like a small city. This was extremely interesting to see and must also be very interesting for the residents of the Twin Lakes community. The walls were painted incredibly with pictures that included life-like illustrations of buildings, stores, and pedestrians. These paintings also included depictions of people flying kites and walking with each other. This is one of the most amazing works of art I have ever witnessed and would love to visit this facility again in the future. Another advantage of this Twin Lakes facility is, at the time we were there, the facility dog was there to greet us as well. The dog would be a large entertainment for the residents and also for the workers and visitors, like us, as well. The dog seemed to be every friendly with everyone it met and made everyone it interacted with very happy.

Twin Lakes is the type of retirement community that does not seem like one. It just seems like an ordinary private community with great amenities. The building is placed on a beautiful amount of land that is probably pushing about 40 to 50 acres. The greenery (flowers and trees) seem to engulf the area and there is seemingly nothing but beauty surrounding the area. There is a huge pond on the outside and plenty of other outdoor things to view. In fact, there are just too many to mention. The inside is very, very beautiful. It is set up into apartments or actual homes, the choice is yours. The assisted living facility provides meals and other amenities like a music room, a game room a library and a salon amongst other items. Overall, this is one of the finest establishments I have ever seen and one of the largest.
