I am hotlining this nursing home for a number of reasons. She was left in stool for an extended period of time even after being changed, and is constantly left in the same smelly nightgown after urine leakage is allowed to dry, even despite the fact the family has provided numerous nightgowns. She is getting bedsores due to lying in her bodily fluids. Urine was allowed to pool and dry under the refridgerator in the room.

I have a friend that has a grandfather at the Carrie Elligson Gietner Home. The nursing home is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My friend's grandfather likes his room and he also likes the activities that are provided. I would recommend this home to anyone.

My mom has been a this facility for 1 year and they give wonderful care, this is an old building but the care provided to my mom has been excellent. Administration is present daily and have gone out of the way to ensure my mom is comfortable and well taken care of. My mom is bed bound and needs assist with everything.

Grandmother was in this home. We took her out after 3 weeks. Terrible care. She laid in urine and stool the vast majority of the time. Got bedsores and pneumonia. Staff neglect the patients and management is non-existent. Very depressing environment. No activities for residents except sitting and staring at a tv. Staff don't check on residents and they don't care.

The Geitner Nursing Home off of Broadway in St. Louis is an interesting nursing home. I have been going there off and on for nearly ten years and have slowly watched the buiding and upkeep grow worse and worse and few residents are now living there. It used to be quite nice, but in the past several years the facility has become very dingy and dirty. The main room when you walk in is still upkept very nicely, but the rooms, nursing stations, and overall condition of the home are all very run down. The staff is overall nice and caring compared to a lot of homes. I have a lot of experience volunteering and visiting family and friends in different nursing home facilities and this one is not anything to talk about. The outside, which was once well-kept and almost luxurious, is now overgrown and worn out. The food seems to be pretty typical of a nursing home, but there is an odor from many parts of the home, almost as if it is never cleaned well. Overall Geitner is pretty much a mediocre home that is only, from what I can tell at least, getting worse.

This home was our top pick for my sister to live in. She is active and sponky - yet needs medical supervison. The home is clean, roomy, and is able to provide several private rooms. My sister is well taken care of and is able to leave with family members on outings without much paperwork or stress. The home has great curb-appeal and offers the residents a great vegetable garden and flower garden to work in. There are numerous activities available to the residents and family is always invited. The home is pricey; however, the care is excellent.
