My mom was there for the rehab center. The rooms are very nice. But it is downhill after that. We were told when the button is pushed, the tech has 10 minutes to come. Then it goes to the nurse. After 10 more minutes it goes to the Director. That is a lie. If so, the Director would never sleep at night or get any work done during the day. Patients wait well over 30 minutes to just go to the bathroom. This happens all the time. Another time she was left sitting on the toilet for over 30 minutes and had to get herself to a chair to wait. She had hip replacement less than 4 days ago. They had a pregnant nurse working at night. Ridiculous. Mom needed to go to the bathroom. She was only 4 days after surgury and needed assistant to get out of bed. The nurse told her she was pregnant and couldn't help her physical. WHAT! Why is she working in teh rehab center where the patients there need some kind of physical assistance. Awful! She sould be working in memory care, not physical rehab area. A doctor came in to look at her arm that had blisters on it. He told her that he would take care of it. That night she asked what the doctor prescribed for the blisters. Nothing. He didn't nothing. Don't tell me you are doing to take care of it and then do nothing. We are required to wear mask except when in the room. We talked to a nurse that said there is a stomach bug going around. Okay. There was a tech that wasn't wearing a mask going from patient room to patient room. I brought that to the case workers attention. The next night he had a mask on under his chin. The following night, no mask again. I guess there are no rules that workers have to follow and they do whatever they want. But visitors have rules to follow. One night early in her stay, a tech came in at 9 pm to tell mom it was time for her bath/shower. She had hip replacement surgery 5 days ago and couldn't get her incision wet. She didn't know that. Another time, mom asked what the medicine was that they brought her. The nurse told her but wasn't sure about one. Mom said that she wasn't going to take that one. The nurse told her that she didn't care if she took it or not. There have been a number of days that meals didn't come and we had to go ask why. This happened a number of times. I feel sorry for the patients that are there with no one coming to visit them. They are at the workers will. Finally, I brought her Great Calls for her to wear. I was afraid she might fall trying to get to the bathroom and tired of waiting and would lay there for hours waiting for help. At least, she could press her Great Calls button and get help. I brought this all to the attention of the case worker and never heard another word. Never saw or heard from the Director or Head of Nursing.

The meals were consistently very good with very attentive service and pretty goof selections. Adequately staffed in what must be a difficult labor market and all very friendly. Weekly events all day long it seemed. Library visits, movies, entertainment... Never saw the old place but the renovations are beautiful. Theater is awesome!

I have a loved one who recently had a long stay at Brooking Park facility and just want to say the place is very poor with the quality of care. The facility is grossly understaffed, so getting help when needed never arrives or takes a very long time to arrive. The workers don’t care about their job it seems like, especially the night staff from what I have been told. I am sure they are underpaid and underprivileged so there is no motivation to care. At one time I was told by that a patient care staff member came into the room with a blanket wrapped around them like they were taking a nap and seemed upset they were disturbed. Some of the staff members are rude and do not want to help the patients. It is also unsanitary, I found used gloves not disposed correctly in the waste can, the used gloves were just left on a dresser or side table. I am sure if the staff had a loved one in this place they would have a different outlook on the matter and actually care about the conditions and poor help that is provided. I am letting you know all this because I am sure it boils down to money. Brooking Park is in need of a serious overhaul both with the amount of staff and the conditions of the facility. I certainly would not recommend anyone to stay at Brooking Park.

I cannot express the love and care my mom and dad got from everyone at Brooking Park. The nursing staff knew their needs and took care of them always at the right time. The food has a diverse blend of all group needs, and spiced right. We had many friends for lunch or dinner, and everyone was very pleased. The entertainment was wonderful, the outings were always fun. They kept everyone very busy if they wanted to join in. I was very lucky that my parents were cared for to this high level before they passed. Please for all of you reading this, just go and see what I experienced to get the best care for your loved one.

Mom was in Brooking Park. At first they were doing great and were assisting her. Then they just kind of dropped the ball. They stopped helping her, like getting her down making sure she got the food. She wasn't eating. They wanted to move her to memory care -- which we ended up doing -- but I didn't like the way they did it. I knew she was missing several meals. She was right by the cafeteria. Couldn't they just knock on the door and let her know it's time to eat? She doesn't know what time it is. They used to do that, then they stopped doing it. I don't really understand. Their communication isn't really good, so I wasn't thrilled.
I just didn't feel like she was getting the care that she needed, and it may just be because she was in the wrong unit. She should have been in memory care. They promised stuff, they were doing it at first, and then they stopped which is disappointing.
Another issue that I had with them that scared me was I found pills underneath her chair when I moved her chair and lifted up stuff. They weren't making sure that she was taking her medicine. She dropped it, and then she couldn't find the pill. I actually saw it happen, so I know that for a fact. They bring it to her, and then they walk out. Every time I went in, I found pills underneath her chair. I did address that with them, and they said that couldn't happen and that they wouldn't allow that. Well, it did happen. So I'm hoping that they cured that problem, but I don't know how long she went without taking pills. She seemed to have missed a lot of them.
They did have some good qualities. I just felt like at the time, they really dropped the ball.

My husband is in the memory care unit of Brooking Park and it's near my house. They have single rooms, a room with a living room on the side, and also two people in a room with one bathroom. There are a lot of things going on. They have three or four people taking care of them. They have a slew of activities during the week. They have a lady that comes to sing and they all liked that. They also have grounds the residents can walk around. They have a dining room on the first floor and it's set up like in a hotel. My husband is a picky eater but he eats everything there.

This facility is the home to a great-aunt of mine. I always enjoy visiting her in this home. There are consistently activities and festivities happening. She has normal services available to her including postal, beauty, light shopping, and a full service gym.
As an active senior, she enjoys the freedom but also fellowship that this particular center offers her. The only negative I've heard her mention is the high rollover of nursing staff. On visits, the facility appears clean and welcoming.
