My tour of the Pacific Place Retirement Community was very nice and very interesting. They had a concept when they started the place, that there should be a different kind of living situation for older adults, and they've created it. It's very small, it's not large like most of the facilities, and I liked that about it. The staff was very nice and informative. I only passed a few people in the hallway, but they were all very nice, and greeted us, and so forth. They take dogs, so we chatted about one of the dogs. The apartments were very nice and I liked the location because I liked being close to the downtown Webster area. I was shown the schedule of activities, and I liked the variety.

I went to see Pacific Place in St. Louis. Everybody seemed friendly. There's a smaller set of people, and there's lots of green space. They have an area for barbecue and stuff like that. There's a restaurant that you go to if you want to eat and don't want to prepare your own food. I guess it's within walking distance of some places like shopping areas.

The one main reason for choosing Pacific Place Retirement Community is that there was no mandatory meal plan, and the cost was a deciding factor as well. It was in an urban area, and my mother was familiar with the area. Since there's no meal plan, you're not forced into it. They don't serve meals, but there is a restaurant adjacent to the community so they get the option to buy. They don't have to go there, but if they do go they can get a discounted meal. They have exercises like yoga and Tai chi. They have an open courtyard area where they can have barbecues. They can sign up, and they'll take people places to different areas around the town.
