We chose Cedarhurst of St. Charles for our mom because it's close to home for all of us, and we thought it was a nice place and has everything that she would need. She's in their assisted living. One of our concerns is their pendants. We pushed the pendant and it was over 45 minutes before they came to check on my mom. That happened more than once too. She also takes blood thinner and they didn't give it to her. When we asked about it, they said she's not supposed to be on that and I said she is. That was Monday, and on Tuesday last week, we had the same problem. I had to go in and talk to them and they said that they had given it to her. I asked if we could see a computer printout of that because the staff was looking at it and she said, "Oh, no. I can't do that." Instead of saying sorry, they denied what happened. They need to have better communication between the nursing staff and the director of nursing. I don't know if they have a DON or not. They told me they did when we got there for our meeting. I don't know whether she was there or she was just appointed that morning. The chef just quit, and my mom said they've been having hot dogs a lot. I think the facility is only 6 years old so they're all kept up nicely and all. I'm just kind of wondering if their nurses are outsourced. I don't know if they were actually hired by the facility or not. They have a salon but I know the lady there doesn't do seniors' hair very well. I have to take my mom out to have hers done. Some people might like the way she does theirs. The physical therapists are excellent though but I think they are not hired by Cedarhurst.

I went to Cedarhurst of St. Charles. We had a very good experience. The tour guide was friendly and upbeat. It took a while for the tour guide to get to us; we waited for a little bit. Other than that, it was actually my mom's favorite place out of all the ones that we toured. My mom really likes the wide open hallways and large entry room. One of the recreation rooms didn't smell very great, but that might have just been because of something that happened that day. Other than that, it was a good experience. They had a kitchen space. If my mom wanted to bake cookies or something, she could use that kitchen space.

When my father is ready, he will move into Cedarhurst of St. Charles. It's assisted living and memory care combined. It was very warm and friendly, and there were lots of activities for them to participate in if they wanted to. It didn't feel like some of the assisted living places I've been to in the past. It felt more like home. The staff members were all super friendly and very accommodating. I couldn't ask for a better group of people. The food looked very good. They had all kinds of snacks available. They had different stations on every floor where they could have snacks, watch TV, or play games. It's a wonderful facility. The dining area was very welcoming. It felt kind of like a restaurant-type atmosphere where they had tables of four or you could put them together for a larger group if you wanted. They offer a menu and ala carte. The rooms were very nice. We looked at studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom and they were all very well kept, up-to-date, and had a homey atmosphere to them. They have a salon, laundry facilities on each floor, and a physical therapy section. They offer transportation to doctors' visits or other places in town. They also have the option that you can have your own car if you're able to drive, so you can come and go as you please. They have security that locks the gate but you can still come and go or have visitors after those hours. They just have to be buzzed in. They have an activity schedule there each day and each week, different things and different outings. Upkeep and maintenance were excellent. It's very neat and clean. Everything was working well. It was great. After I went to Cedarhurst, I had such a warm, welcoming feeling and a feeling that it was where my dad would thrive best.

Cedarhurst of St. Charles is a very nice facility, it was probably just a larger facility than we were looking for. They offered a lot of amenities since they were a larger community, and it just seemed like a very nice place. We could see people out there socializing, which was nice to see. It was just kind of a larger facility than what we were probably looking for. The staff we met with was very professional. Due to their size, they had a large number of common areas, which would be very nice. Obviously, right now this time of the year, it's not a very nice time with all the COVID things going on. They have a very nice selection of meeting areas where the residents could get together, or even the families could get together that were visiting; that was very nice.

My dad was in Cedarhurst of St. Charles before. It's assisted living and they had a memory care unit. It was really hard on him due to COVID. I would absolutely recommend them. I loved the people there, they were very caring, and compassionate. The only complaint I have was they did not have much to offer him as far as activities. I think in the whole place they only had three men there, everybody else were women, and it seemed like they were much older than my dad. They only had bingo and crafts.

I went to Cedarhurst of St. Charles. It was beautiful, gorgeous, but kind of empty. They don't have enough residents now, I guess, and it's expensive. The staff was helpful, friendly, and accommodating because I didn't have an appointment. I just walked in and they were happy to give me the information I needed in the amount of time I had. The dining area was clean, light, and airy, and there were lots of windows. It was just out of our budget.

I'm not really happy with Cedarhurst. I was not told they had an active COVID case. And when I got there, the director said, "Oh yeah, it's not a big deal, we had everybody tested. We don't think it's a problem." I have cancer, and when I called back they had multiple, multiple cases, and was ongoing, not only Cedarhurst, but also the director and everybody else. And basically, I exposed myself to COVID by going. So it would have been really nice for her to say, "We have an active case right now, you might wanna reconsider coming to see us. Let us give you a virtual tour." I didn't see the food, and didn't even see a menu. The facility looked good, but the halls were very dark. They have no windows. The room had a mini-fridge.

Cedarhurst of St. Charles was a good community and the tour was wonderful. The staff was very informative, they took me around and the place was very clean. It looks like a home more and the apartment did not feel like a nursing home, we really liked it. Our concern was about the memory part. Although I like it because it was very clean and I know it has to be locked down and it was good, there weren't a lot of rooms for the residents to do anything beyond that closed wall. They have the common areas but it was more geared towards the institutional stuff. The staff who accommodated me were wonderful, they showed me both the studio and the apartment type rooms. We have a husband and wife who needs assisted living and the other one needs memory care, and we wanted to know if they can be together.

My mom is happy at Cedarhurst of St. Charles. The community is really caring and she has a lot of activities and things to do. She feels really comfortable and safe there. The staff brings medications, sometimes tidies up Mom's room and changes her linens, and reminds her of activities. She plays dominoes, wheelchair volleyball, Bingo, and they have a poetry club, movies and happy hour. The rooms are all kinds, but my mom has a studio plus.

Cedarhurst is very clean and has immediate availability and good-sized rooms. They have a Lutheran service, which is a nice option. They have a small, brand-new library. The community is fine.
