My dad moved into Oak Pointe of Rolla. The experience was absolutely wonderful. The staff is fabulous. They make my dad feel comfortable. My dad's room is beautiful. It's like going to a motel. I have eaten every night with him, and it's excellent. It's like going to a restaurant. They have a party, bingo, crafts, and things going on every day.

I used to go and visit Oak Pointe of Rolla. I've gone several different times because we were thinking of putting my mom there. The only thing is that there was different management and they had different rules and people now. I probably could have gotten her in there but they said that the residents had to come while they were still able to move around and that one of the rules they had was that they had to get dressed and then go to the dining area. They couldn't eat in their room unless they were sick and my mom was at a point where she likes to stay in her pajamas and she wouldn't want to get dressed, so for her, we just chose not to go there. They have excellent food though, the staff is wonderful, and they have a lot of facility activities. They have a beauty shop, games, and several areas where families can go and spend time with their loved ones. Their rooms were more up-to-date than the other ones I have seen. We were looking at assisted living because, at the time, my mom was still able to move around and everything. What I liked about it was you could walk around the whole building inside because it was a big O shape. As you walk, you go past some activities and then you come on the backside. About midway was where the dining hall was and as you continued to walk, you would get into the area where the memory care was. Then you come back around towards the front and that's where some of the offices were then you would come back in the main lobby. If she had been mobile, that would have been perfect for her to be able to walk every day. They had a chef and he was an excellent cook. He not only cooks it great, but he has a nice variety of food every day too and I've had several of them. They even hosted Red Hat where women go places and wear red. They're for people in their 50s and older, they invited us to come out so we could look at it, and they cooked for us. I would highly recommend people to go there.

I would've loved for mom to be at Oak Pointe of Rolla, we just couldn't afford it. It's very clean and it had a very nice setup, upper class almost. It's not like the typical nursing home or anything like that or even assisted living. It's a little bit nicer done and it's newer, so that might be the primary reason. The staff was very helpful. Even though it's private pay and they don't do insurance like Medicare, the staff didn't look down on us or anything like that. She's like "we could try to find a way." They had different activities planned. They have a game night and they would do shopping trips together because they have a minibus. Obviously, they don't do visits as much right now during the pandemic, but they have spots outside where, as long as the weather is permitting, you can go sit and be with your family. They're open to suggestions. The dining area was set up nicely. It didn't have a nursing home feel. The food seemed OK. I wasn't there during mealtime, but I talked to some of the people and they said it was nice. The atmosphere was a little down right now, but we're in the middle of the pandemic and family isn't able to visit like they used to. I understand that we have to do social distancing, and they try to work around that and work as best as they can with it. I didn't go into the individual rooms. With the pandemic going on, they did a shortened tour. They showed me pictures because you can't go in other people's individual rooms and apartments, but overall, it was clean and it didn't have that smell to it.

My husband moved into Oak Pointe of Rolla in November. We chose them because I was able to negotiate a rate with them, it was in the hometown that we lived in, and all the other ones were hours away. The staff is nice, they're pretty good, and I don't have any major problems with them. He likes the food -- he said the food is very good. It's new and clean. They have activities but with COVID it has been hard. The rooms are nice, and it's a good return for what you get. There is room for improvement and it's expensive, but it's not bad.

My siblings moved to Oak Pointe of Rolla. They have a very nice apartment, it has carpeting, and a small kitchen. It's a one-bedroom apartment that was very nice and clean. The community is very nice, friendly, and is in a nice and peaceful area. We're very happy with it.
