Residents requiring assistance with personal hygiene aren’t a good fit for Kingswood Care Center. If your significant other, friend or relative isn’t able to fully care for their own personal hygiene and toilet needs independently, it would be in your best interest to seek another facility rather than Kingswood. The staff is pleasant as long as they’re able to socialize with their colleagues. My friend, significant other and/or relative developed bed wounds due to lack of proper hygiene. They chose death over life from being repeatedly reprimanded for having to release themselves or asking for assistance. The person mentioned unfortunately chose starvation rather than admonishing by the majority of the staff for having a regular human need. This form of negligence shouldn’t exist In America in the 21st Century. Do better with the next person, please.

We kept my parents at Kingswood. We just moved them into long-term care. We think the staff members are very good. They have taken good care of them, so we just decided that they should stay there. It's good. The staff is excellent and the facility is excellent. They had a major renovation of it a couple of years ago, so the facility is in good shape. I've never heard my parents complain about the food, so I think it's fine. There are a number of activities that they can enroll in and that type of thing, but it depends upon their ability. My folks are limited because they have limited mobility at this point, but I think it's very good. I think they have a good variety of activities that people can do. We felt like the value of money was consistent with others that we saw. I think everything looked expensive nowadays for care and stuff, but compared to other facilities that we looked at, I think it was OK. The facilities are good. I'm kinda limited with their activities as far as what I know because of what my folks are able to do, but it looks like there's a good variety. It is expensive, but it's consistent with the others that we looked at. We were interested in mostly facilities that had independent living that as you need to move into assisted living, you can do that, and as you need to move into long-term care, you can do that. Kingswood has a variety of options. Actually, my parents were into assisted living initially, then they went into independent living, and then they went into skilled nursing, and they went into long-term care. My parents have been in four different categories.

Kansas City Daughter

My father was there for a month, and I would never send anyone there again. They are drastically understaffed and cut staff while my father was a patient, making a bad situation worse. They are concentrating their resources on their new assisted living units. The nurses and CNAs felt overworked and took out their frustrations on the patients. They had terrible attitudes and resented the presence of family members. They hated helping patients use the bathroom and preferred to have them defecate and urinate in their clothing, to be cleaned up later at the aides’ convenience. The physical and occupational therapists were generally nice and helpful, but the scheduling of therapy sessions was random and illogical. The therapy room was too small and not well-equipped. Actual medical care was non-existent, and the lack of doctor visits was also commented on by other families. The hygiene was dreadful. There were usually no towels in the bathroom. The room was never cleaned while my father was there. A pill dropped on the floor was picked up and popped into his mouth by an aide. There was a good variety of food and it was well-prepared – the only good thing I can say about this place.

We found Kingswood. It’s a private facility with an indoor pool. Everything is great and clean. I don't have any complaints at all. I would recommend them. The staff is very friendly. I’m very pleased and content with this facility for my loved one.

Kingswood Manor's location is good. It's clean. Although I can say that my mother's stay there has not been pleasant. The therapists have been really great but they just had lack of communication. We were not pleased. My aunt lives in their independent living facility. The place has just been one thing after the other with its independent living facility, assisted living, the extended care, and then the rehab facility and I don't know which particular one or it's all that way and we have to stay on top of it because there's just so many kinds of stuff that goes on there. It scares us to have to put my mom in an assisted living facility and have to go through the same stuff. They are short-handed. We kept a notebook and we have been charting everything as we don't always have access to nurse's notes or the doctor's charts.
