My mother-in-law is in Mason Pointe. It has all levels of care there. It's a very nice facility. Everybody is very professional, very personal, and very communicative. Anytime I call, I get somebody to talk to me. When I come in, they come by. They have a liaison whose job is just to make sure all your questions are answered. They're very good about working with you to find exactly the right fit in place. It's a nice place. No place is perfect, but they come pretty close. The food is pretty decent.
The grounds are kept up. They have activities directors on each floor. There's a manicurist that does nails. They have beauty days. There are lots of activities going on, parties, Mardi Gras, all kinds of stuff. As far as the residents being active and even when there's not a planned big activity, they keep everybody busy, depending on the floor and the level of care. They have movie time and they make popcorn. They keep everybody out of the rooms, not sitting around, but doing something. There might be coloring over here and crafts over here, and these guys are getting their nails done. They have activities directors and their only job is just to plan activities.
Every place is expensive, but what you get for the money compared to the other places I looked at for the same price, I feel like you get better quality here. She is in skilled nursing. They also have assisted living. She can't do any activities and she can't do much, but they make it a point to get her up and get her out of the room. She's just mostly hanging around with the nurses at the nurses' station. They have them out with her so they can keep an eye on her so they can talk to her and she can people watch. They don't just leave her in her room all day. They make an effort to do as much as they can with her. It is a nice facility for that.

once you are admitted you are at the mercy of an uncaring, non compassionate and unintelligent staff. Your spirit is broken and they are oblivious to it. it takes 45 minutes to 2 hours for your call light to be answered. And if a family member ask the staff to help their patient they either look away from you or pass the buck. Communication is poor and continuity of care only exists in their physical therapy department. Nursing does not facilitate what therapy addresses as patient goals or needs. staffing shortages exist because the staff members consistently say it to their patients. If you ask questions one staff member says one thing and another says something totally different.
No activities are offered and you're lucky to have a bath once a week! Food is terrible.
I would never recommend this facility!!!

I chose Mason Pointe for my husband. Right now, he's in skilled nursing there. After they evaluate him, we are hoping to get him over to the assisted living side. What I like most is the help. They are always very positive and very friendly, and that's the number-one thing. Second, the food is very good. They have a lot of selections, the food is fresh, and it is served very well. It's different now than it was because of the pandemic, but they are doing fantastically. I'm very pleased with it. The staff is excellent and always positive. The communication between the staff and the caregivers needs improvement.

Mason Pointe was fine. My wife spent three weeks there for rehab. However, the cost for their full-care unit was quite high. She was in a large, nice, private room. The people were pleasant and did their jobs. I could not recall any activities while she was there other than the physical therapy, which they tried to provide for her. The facility was very nice.

They do a pretty much one on one care at The Cedars at the JCA. The rooms are kind of small for a single bed. They are pretty well staffed.

The Cedars Of Town And Country was a very large community. It was very well-staffed, had a good environment, and was a nice place. They had some private rooms and semi-private rooms that seemed spacious. The place looked pretty good. They didn't have a bed available for us. They had a lot of activities, everything from art classes to music to arts and crafts and bingo. They had excursions where they took the residents out for different things, like baseball games and shopping at Wal-Mart. They had a computer room and a library. The community was very bright. The residents seemed fairly happy and upbeat. There were a lot of interaction between the staff and the residents. The staff was very helpful and professional, and answered all of our questions. It looked like the residents were very well taken care of. There was no smell.
