We chose Brookdale for our father and were very impressed throughout the sales process. Our post-sales experience was a disaster. We observed that the facility was severely understaffed with multiple employees playing 'rover' positions to fill significant gaps on a daily basis. But the biggest issue is that our father was found dead in his apartment after going unchecked and unnoticed by Brookdale staff for 48 hours or more. We experienced an egregious lack of executive leadership, and were unable on a number of occasions to receive timely, accurate and truthful information. While many of the mid-level and junior employees were incredibly nice and the food and facilities were acceptable, the horrendous leadership void resulted in a terrible experience, overall. We deeply regret choosing Brookdale Wornall Place.

I toured Brookdale Wornall Place. The staff were very friendly and professional. They had two different types of units: east and west. The one that I saw was a 1-bedroom east. It had a view of the courtyard, and that was very nice. Even in the winter, there was a fountain and a lot of plants. It would be very pleasant in the spring, summer, and fall. The apartment had a good kitchen. The east style apartment is a little bit closed off from the living room, but the west configuration is more open.
There was nothing all that special about their common dining area, but it was fine. It was more like a restaurant.
They had quite a few activities. They had therapy pools and fitness facilities. However, there was no laundry in the unit. The hallways were a bit narrow and did not have handrails. The place had a very nice deck. It had a fireplace that did not put out heat, but it did glow for ambiance. They had garage spaces that included enough square footage to put storage containers. The parking was only $89 a month more.

I toured Brookdale Wornall Place and they were average across the board. The one thing I was not impressed with was I could see a few cleanliness issues that needed to be addressed as I went through the facility. I would have liked for them to have been a little bit more on top of scuff marks and dirt in the corners and such like that. Overall, it seemed a little disjointed as a facility. They had elevators over here and there. I also was not too impressed with the neighborhood where that was. I understand that that's an area with a lot of crime and rioting right now.
There were kind of shortcuts in the rooms. There were a couple of rooms where I saw that they had to step down into a living area. I wouldn't expect that in an assisted living or independent living center. They have the typical kind of activities, like puzzles, getting together, going out to dinner, and participating in local activities.

At Brookdale Wornall Place, I like that meals are included in the price. The place does fit within my budget. I had a tour. They were really nice. They took me around the rooms and the dining room. I don't need a lot of care. I can't walk very well, but this just has to be a place that walkers can be used. They have bannisters. I would describe the staff as extraordinary helpful. We went into the dining room, and it looked really nice. They have a pool, and it is really accessible. It is a good place.

I went to Brookdale Wornall Place. It was great, the place was clean, and it looked modern all over. I understand it has been established for quite some time. It looked really nice, and I would recommend it to someone who's looking. The staff was fantastic; they could not have been nicer. Everything was spotless, everything looked modern, but the bedrooms were a little too small, and there was not room for both a bedroom and a chest. The only difference would be a few of the amenities that come with the room, and the size of the rooms. The larger the rooms, the better. I liked that it was all in one building. When you walk in, the first thing you see is a stairway and the lobby, and it is absolutely beautiful.

The common facilities are generally nice. The individual apartments which looked nice several years ago, now have discolored and peeling vinyl flooring, deteriorating particle board cabinets, sinks, countertops and fixtures that need replacing. Despite getting in the queue (long before the Covid lockdown) to replace items such as peeling floor tiles, water soaked particle board cabinets and floor molding, nothing was ever done. The biggest negative is by far the truly awful food, which I have eaten several times as a guest before lockdown. They've changed chefs several times and the quality of the food declines dramatically with each new chef. My guess is that Corporate is cutting costs at the residents' expense, esp with a captive audience during Covid. It's not just a bad chef and unappetizing menus, it's low quality ingredients to start with (e.g., hunks of unsliced meat that are 80% fat and gristle and corn on the cob that is livestock feed quality). The quality of the food has seen a sharp decline in the past two years, and since Covid it is often inedible. I find it unconscionable that management has allowed the food quality to slip to such a low level, especially given the $$$thousands each month that the residents pay. I have volunteered at food kitchens for the homeless where the quality of ingredients and the meals were superior. We started noticing weight loss during video calls since Covid, so are now having food delivered to make sure they have a few decent meals to eat. While depression is a common side effect of Covid isolation, the inability to look forward to a decent meal has made that even worse. They have even missed delivering meals that were ordered and our family has had to scramble to have outside food delivered. I worry for residents that may not have anyone on the outside checking on their well being. Brookdale is clearly cutting costs that hurt the residents versus the corporate executives. Many of the employees seems very caring. Having worked for a large corporation, I'd like to give the local management team the benefit of the doubt by assuming that they are taking the fall for budget cuts dictated by Corporate, while the executives likely remain fat and happy.

My husband was not impressed with Brookdale Wornall Place at all. They had an apartment closed off because of bedbugs. The living space, the kitchen, and the refrigerator were tiny. We would never go there. Everything was old and dated.

Brookdale Wornall Place was very clean, they had very nice staff, we met several of the residents there, they were very lively, and seemed to be very happy. The facilities were excellent, they had a swimming pool, an indoor pool, a hot tub, an exercise room, and they had lots of activities. However, it seemed to be more expensive than the others.

Brookdale Wornall Place was lovely. I liked the people who I met there. However, it was so far out. Nevertheless, if I am to consider some place again, I would give it a serious thought. One of the things that I really like about their living quarters was that they have kitchenettes. They have small fireplaces and walk-in closets. The room was more up-to-date than where I am now. I talked to a couple of people who live there and they seemed to be happy. They were telling me about some of the activities. I probably could fit in there really good. The staff members were very accommodating. It seemed like a nice place. They were great. I saw their menu and their dining room area and it looked great. The place was huge and gorgeous. They had a pool, too; I was very impressed. The price was a little higher, but I really liked it.

Brookdale Wornall Place is mostly apartments. The apartments were a little on the small side for my husband and myself. The community wasn't as nice as the other two. However, they have a pub and card room, an all-day dining area, a general store, 24-hour emergency response, and an all-faith chapel. They have housekeeping services, therapy services, and underground parking. The utilities are included in the price of the rent. Their staff is available around the clock. The staff members were very nice. They know people by their names. The staff member who accommodated me was very knowledgeable. We had dinner with them and it was very good. The food was excellent.

Brookdale and its apartments were very nice. There were a lot of people out and about. The dining area looked good, and there was a community room.

The food has been getting worse. Concierge service is not efficient. My mother has a standing order for laundry service and no one came to do it. She complained to the "concierge" service twice and still no one has come or apologized. The meals are now worse than previously. The apartments are great, staff mostly helpful but very expensive for poor food quality and non concierge service.

Everything was very nice, and everybody was very helpful at Brookdale Wornall Place. The apartments and the surroundings were beautiful. I liked everything. They had so many recreational activities. They take the residents out to Walmart, and they go to movies. I was really impressed with it. It was very well run.

I was able to visit Brookdale Wornall Place, and it was excellent. I like the facility. The upkeep was great, and they had a lot of activities. The apartments were lovely. The only thing there is that their washers and dryers were not in the individual apartment. We really like the facility.

The staff was very helpful, explained everything, took us around, and showed us the rooms.
They have 1-bedroom rooms or studio type rooms which was very nice. They have a nice dining room, and the community was very nice too. Brookdale Wornall seemed to have a lot of things going on, like some residents were playing cards. It was a nice place, and it is close to where she is living. It’s one that we would consider.

When we walked in Brookdale, we didn't have a good vibes. We didn't like it. It just wasn't cozy. It felt like a hotel. The representative there that we met with wasn't that interested because at that time we were there, there was no apartment for her to move into. So, he wasn't really pushing for a sale. He didn't call or follow through with us until two or three months later when they finally had an apartment available. I wasn't impressed. However, I liked that they had a lot of planned activities for the residents. If you would like to be busy, you could be busy. I thought the guy just kind of turned us all off because he didn't have anything to sell that day, and he was distracted.

Grand Court was very, very nice. I don't have any complaints about it except I don't think we can afford it. They had a lot of activities. The meal looked pretty elegant. It was just a nice, clean place.

I liked the layout of Grand Court and the facilities and the newness of it, since they've been under renovation, but the cost of it is a little out of my range. It's like $3495, and I'm paying $2000 where I am right now. I like the apartment because it is roomy, and I was surprised it had a full kitchen, a refrigerator, and a stove. It's like a house, where you have a thermostat that you control heating the air from one switch instead of like where I'm at now, we have an older furnace and heater, and you activate either one and leave the other. They have transportation to your doctor's appointments, but they only have it for so many hours and 10 miles from the complex.

I liked Grand Court. They were preparing for a party when I was there and they looked very excited. They staff was very nice. During our tour, they stopped to converse with the residents whom they knew by name. I liked their rooms. They were spacious enough.
