Privately Paid Services

These services are designed to eliminate the need for unnecessary institutionalization by creating a safe living environment, fostering independence and facilitating rehabilitation. Services are available to youth and adults who make arrangements for individualized care and private payment for services. These services do not require a doctor's order; however, clients in a hospital or skilled nursing facility can request direct private care on their own to avoid being discharged to another care provider. Privately Paid Services are available for 8, 12 or 24-hour shifts. Hourly services are also available for those needing less than an 8-hour shift. Just a few examples within this service offering:

  • Nursing Services
  • Care that never sleeps
  • Respite Care (to give relief to the regular family caregiver)
  • Basic housekeeping
  • Provide one-on-one care in a hospital or nursing home situation
  • Social outings
  • Transportation
  • Meal preparation and planning
  • Grooming and personal hygiene
  • Medication reminders
  • Reading, conversation and companionship
  • Letter writing
  • Pet Care
State Funded Home Care Services

In-Home Services are managed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services"¦

In-Home Services & Agency Direct Services

In-home Health Care Services are services that offer assistance with activities of daily living. Some persons who otherwise would be forced to live in nursing homes may be able to stay in their homes if provided with homemaker chore or respite care services. Missouri HealthNet eligibility rules help to make such Home and Community-based services available to persons who meet certain eligibility requirements.

The services themselves are authorized through the State Department of Health and Senior Services. Senior Services will first determine need for care and the availability of services.

  • Homemaker Chores (meal planning, cleaning, changing and making beds, laundry, correspondence, errands and shopping)

My Husband was a client. I wouldn't recommend Phoenix, My husband had a bad reaction to chemo and needed some therapy to get stronger. One day the nurse called and said she was on her way and could she bring someone that could help me with outside resources stuff I couldn't afford I said that would be fine. when she got to our home she had told my husband the same thing. Well when the women introduced herself she said Hi I'm ----- from hospices and I'm here to keep you comfortable until you Die I was so mad and said get the ---- out of my house. And ask the nurse why she lied to me she didn't answer and finished and left. The next day my husband had a Dr. Appt. and I asked him if he had them bring Hospice out he said no he didn't need them, he just needs the right therapy and nutrition. That day after we got back from the Dr. the Head therapy lady came out to evaluate my husband and she said you need to get on Hospice there is nothing else we can do for you, I was so mad and said the Dr. doesn't want him on hospice and she said we can go around the Dr. and I told here to get the ---- out of my house. My husband was so upset and thought he had a death sentence and his blood pressure ect. and went into hospital and I called and told them that he was in the Hospital and they never called and check on him I called them one day nd they said is he out of the hospital I said no was calling to tell them we didn't want the services any more. He was in there for 4 month and when he got released they said you need home health he said H--- NO they gave me other options and got a great one they really cared for him and working with them we got him stronger and he is doing GREAT now if I would of stuck with Phoenix my husband wouldn't be here today. when you looking for one you tell them what you want to accomplish or what you want for your loved one remember you are the BOSS they work for you. sorry it's so long

If you use this company, you must double check their billing. They cannot be relied upon to bill correctly, will overbill, bill for hours not worked, and then it's your job to catch it and try to get a refund or a credit. If you have two people being cared for and one passes, they will continue to bill for both people until you catch it and then it takes months to get it straightened out. Their caregivers are usually not reliable and it takes several attempts to find one who is. Sometimes you will rely upon someone showing up, the person doesn't, and no one notifies you that your family member is not being cared for. Complaints often go unanswered. The owners are in it for the money and do not care about providing reliable, caring service to their customers.

My father had Alzheimer's and we contacted Phoenix. They seemed to make a difficult situation even worse. The office staff was rude, unorganized and most of the time out of touch with what was going on. They would cancel someone at the last minute and have no options for us as far as sending a replacement. They sent people out with no experience at all with Alzheimer's and those ladies admitted to feeling uncomfortable, but were sent anyway. We walked in once and the caregiver was completely asleep(day shift) on the couch and my dad was left unattended. The worst part was trying to communicate with the girls at the office, they lack simple communication skills. It's been two weeks since my dad passed and they have not contacted us through any means to express their condolences, which shows they're not in it because they care about people. We did meet two of the best ladies that cared for my dad right to the very end and loved him, unfortunately the girl at the office called and was highly upset because one of them for came in early to help during my dad's final days. It's a mess and I would look elsewhere. I heard they were rated number 1 in Missouri, if that's the case, then the state of home healthcare system is in a very sad place. Samantha Holt

as a client it certainly would be more appropriate to have someone who actually worked and was on time . The work ethic lacks tremendously.
