The Madison Senior Living is kind of a long way out in more or less an industrial neighborhood. The only one that I could afford there was a studio. The unit was extremely small, partly because they put a full-sized washer and dryer in the only closet that was for bedroom-bathroom use. The closet that would be left available for hanging clothes was very, very small. I think it was brand new, and everything was nice. If I could have afforded a bigger unit there, I might have given it more consideration, but that was out of my budget. They are in the process of building a facility outside for more activities, like barbecues and things. It is not done yet. There was a storage place across the road. There was a convenience store/gas station on your way to the highway from the building, which could be nice. There are also plenty of shops within a mile, like Target and Walmart. The dining area is a restaurant, and it is open all day. You can go on your own time schedule to get meals, and all meals are included. Adjacent to that is a snack bar, where they put out a variety of snacks. A lot of them are healthy and some of them are not, but you can grab them at your convenience at no extra charge. I looked at the menu, and there was quite a lot of variety, including healthy options. It is a fairly new facility, and there weren't many residents around. I only met two staff members, and they were both nice, pleasant, and professional. They also have a few carports, but no garage parking. The reason that I rate the facilities that low is that they're not really efficiently planned. The studio apartment was like a hotel room, so I can't see anybody living there full time.

I went to The Madison Senior Living. It was just as good as the other one I saw, the staff was great, the facilities were great, and their rooms were a little larger. Some of the apartments were larger. It was all in one building, which makes a difference, because you didn't have to go from building to building. It looks spotless, it looks really good, and in the spring it's going to be beautiful. They had a dining room, a bistro, and underground parking; I think they had a fee for that. They furnished three meals a day, they gave us dinner to take home, and it was delicious. The staff was really, really knowledgeable, and really good. It opened in August, everything is in good shape, and it's pretty close to brand new.

I visited Madison Senior Living, and they were fantastic. Catherine and Olivia took me around, and they were great. Just by walking into the place, you felt like you should be there instead of being a visitor. They had a restaurant where you can order or you can come in, sit down, and have your breakfast and dinner inside. You can also just call, say what you want off the menu, go down, pick it up, and take it back to your room. I thought that was great. They also had an area where you could just come down and get snacks -- like juice, crackers, or things like that -- for free. They have a media room and a workout area. Their space did not have so many twists and turns, so you don't have to go here and there. The facility was big, clean, and bright. The rooms had patio windows and a washer and dryer. The young ladies who showed me around were more interested in the characteristics of my mother, like what she would be interested in, if she would like to get on any of their committees, or what she was doing in her past that would associate with things that they have there.
