My mother really loved Connect55+ Independence, so that's what she's going with. We chose it because of the whole appearance of the place, the cleanliness of the place, how nice the rooms were, and especially Amanda, who gave us the tour that works there in the leasing office. She was amazing. While we were in there, we saw other women the same age as my mom that were enjoying playing games and stuff. My mother felt so comfortable when we looked through there that she was like, "This is what I want to be." The staff was very personable, very helpful, very knowledgeable, and just overall a very nice person. The facility itself was great and in great shape. My mom doesn't really need anything. She's pretty much self-sufficient, but they did have a calendar of events for every single day that she could attend and participate in and get to meet other seniors, so that was great. Another great thing is this had a great price range. It was just perfect for my mother.

I toured Connect55+ Independence. It's a newer building, about the same age as the one I'm in now. The square footage for each apartment is a little smaller than what I have here. They have a large turnover of management, and they can't seem to find someone who really interacts well with the residents. Their activities are about average for a senior building. They have fewer socializing opportunities than we do in the building here. They don't have an organized activity director, I don't believe. The facilities were clean and well kept. Nothing spectacular, just very utilitarian.
