My father is at New Mark Care Center (New Mark Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center). He's in the nursing home because he's in hospice care. It is an older facility that has been updated. It has very nice amenities for the nursing home rehab patients that are there. Families can call and schedule appointments to meet with their family for 30 minutes, and two people can go visit.
The staff seems to be very friendly. They are not always on top of things, but they're very friendly and helpful. They have activities, but since my father is in hospice, I don't know about those. He has said that the food is pretty good. There are some better than others. He seems to like breakfast the most because there are always pancakes and scrambled eggs. They always have at least two choices for the residents when they go to the dining hall. His impression is pretty good.

I went to New Mark Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. They had all women, which was good. In the waiting room, though, where they could sit and watch TV, most of women were standing because there was really no room for them to sit and watch TV. I didn’t care about that. The residents’ rooms were OK. Cleanliness was OK. They need more sitting areas for the women. The place was clean, but the furniture looked kind of old. It was OK. There was a place outside where the people could walk, which was nice.

My grandmother was a resident in New Mark Nursing Home. The building itself is very nice: it is roomy and comfortable, and there is a rather large courtyard so that residents can spend time outdoors. The staff, however, are far from the best. They are lazy, rude, and often careless. Several times when I visited my grandmother I was in need of assistance from a nurse, once for a medical issue that my grandmother suffered from. Each time, I would turn on the call light and wait for a nurse to arrive-if they arrived, it was typically at least half an hour later. Once my grandmother had an emergency and when the nurses didn't respond to the call light, I went to find one-I found a group of five of them standing at the nurse's station talking to each other. Overall, I would say that the facility itself is very nice but the staff definitely needs replacing.
