We toured Holiday Garden Village. The staff was very friendly and very professional, and she answered all of our questions. The facility was very clean and very nice. They were willing to work with us, going above and beyond. They were excellent. The dining room looked very clean. It was between meals, but they had staff in there, making sure everything was cleaned up, and they were preparing for dinner and it looked very nice. The rooms were exactly as described by the staff. They had lots of activity spaces, and they were large.

I moved in at Holiday Garden Village and it has been very good. The staff is nice and they do the best they can with the number of people that they have. They might be shorthanded, but overall, they are very good. My room is very nice and very clean. My personal belongings fit here and it's relatively roomy. The food needs a little improvement, and they are also shorthanded with the food service staff. We have a very nice and very clean dining room. We have an exercise room, pool tables, bingo, shuffleboard tables, religious services, and a lot of activities during the holidays. We have events with kids and grandkids. It's a family-oriented type of community, and families can visit you any time of the month.

Everybody at Holiday Garden Village was nice. They have a game room, a laundry room (not inside the unit), three meals a day, and a hairdresser on site. I liked that everybody there was super friendly. It just wasn't as clean as I would have hoped it would be.

I liked Holiday Garden Village. I felt so comfortable there. It looked very welcoming. As you come into the place, they've got all these flowers on either side and it's very pretty. When you go inside, it's also very nice looking. They've got a place for pianos, a nice dining area, and the rooms were pretty spacious with very nice refrigerators. It's a pretty nice place to have. Everything is kept up very well and very clean. I had lunch there and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are choices and it's very well-balanced. While I was there, they went ahead and got my hair fixed and nails done in the salon. They were very nice to me.

We toured Garden Village and we were only there for less than five minutes. The receptionist had no information that we were coming. It's also very dated. The rooms looked like a college dorm. My first impression was terrible at that place. It was very, very small. There was no microwave in the kitchens, there's a half refrigerator, and the stove was very small compared to the other places that we looked at.

Garden Village was the only place to return any of my calls and emailed me. It's a good place. We got my mom a studio there which is 300 square feet. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is warm. Every week, they have some type of activity that they do. They play bocce ball, cards, dominoes, have beer tasting, and all kinds of amenities. It's just a nice place. Being in the city, it's surrounded by trees and a pond. So, it's nice and quiet. My mom seems to like and enjoys the food.

Garden Village was a nice place and the atmosphere was great. If you're looking for a residency, that would be the place. The people were friendly and the atmosphere was just great. Tiffany gave us a tour and didn't sugarcoat anything; she told us everything that we needed to know. The place was beautiful, well kept and they followed procedures. She told us about a few of their amenities. There was a beauty shop, there was a gift shop, and there were a lot of things at the entryway. It was pretty nice. The shopping area is there and the access to the freeway.

A relative of mine going to Garden Village in the Kansas City area next month. She was looking for a not-so-large independent living place that's close to areas that she'd like to go to. The room we saw was large enough for her to be able to have some of her personal belongings and make it kind of her own, and she felt like that's where she would be comfortable. The staff was all very pleasant. What she will have is more of a studio apartment. It's not a large area, but it was well maintained.

Garden Village is really nice. They have pretty grounds. When my mom moved in the carpet looked almost brand new. The walls were freshly painted, and the people are very friendly. They provide dining services. She seems to like it a lot. Because of COVID, I haven't had a meal there, but they said they'll bring that back later (where a family member can have a meal with their person).

Garden Village was very clean. The problem I had was that the prices were high for me right now, and I didn't want to be living in a studio apartment. I didn't want to be confined to such a small space. There's no cooking area, but three meals a day are provided. The decor was pretty; it was nice. The seniors that I saw there seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves. They have a lot of things to offer, and everybody that I ran across seemed to be content. I saw a 1-bedroom apartment. It was really nice, very spacious, and big. The price was a little high, like $2,500. The cheapest studio was really small. It just depends on the type the person is looking for. They were well maintained and well-kept. They gave me a little gift for coming in a little gift bag.

Garden Village would be a great place for someone in their later retirement age that needed assisted living, but it is not meant for someone that needs nursing care. My father was in a studio apartment. It was very nice, it had a newer carpet, and it was freshly painted. He had a kitchenette area, so it was very nice. The staff and the employees that work there were very friendly and easy to talk to. They were great. They had elevator issues a couple of days when we were there, and we didn't get to participate in any of the activities. However, there was something almost daily for the residents. They sent out a calendar to them. They provided a calendar for the menu and there were always two options. There was a calendar with at least one activity every day, if not more. There were two different days during the week, Wednesday and Thursday, that the residents can sign up to go to doctor appointments or shopping trips and they take them to go do that, so that was very nice, too. My father liked the food. It was always hot and he had choices. They were good at taking care of him.

Garden Village was very nice. If I were looking for something like that, that would've been a good place to be. The only thing I didn't like about it was the prices were a little bit too high for senior citizens. It was beautiful, the apartment was roomy, and the people were extra nice. They were helpful people. Everybody I ran into out there was just excellent. The facility itself was nice. It was more than what I was expecting for a senior living.

My tour at Garden Village was very nice, I enjoyed it very much. The staff was excellent. Their studio apartment was small, but that's what it is- a studio apartment. It was nice, clean, and fresh, and the facility is very nice, I liked it. You pay for interim which is comparable to what we're paying now. They have 3 meals a day, and I thought it was nice that they have an intercom in the rooms and they'd let you know when the food is being served. That's nice. The surrounding neighborhood is nice and pleasant, and the location is convenient.

Garden Village was a nice, homey atmosphere. It looked clean and the rooms were spacious. The staff members were very friendly and attentive. It felt like I received their full attention while welcoming me and helping me look at the facilities. It's very pretty to go into that nice long driveway. The staff told me about their activities like cards and ice cream socials. They had other activities but because of Covid, they weren't currently hosting them. Also it seemed to me they had transportation to some places.

We went to Garden Village for a tour. We've been in touch with Tiffany, and she's very helpful. That's where my brother would have been right now if it wasn't because of the problem we had. We chose this community because of the overall welcoming feel from the staff and the room itself. He was looking at a studio and didn't need to have a whole lot, and they got a nice-sized room for him. Also the price was within his budget. It's kind of tired-looking inside, but I understand they're renovating right now. It was very clean, too, and very well maintained.

Garden Village is very good. The staff members are extremely nice. My mom has been there for about a week now. They have planned activities every week. They have bingo, Super Bowl parties, and computer classes. Those are the things that I've seen on the activity list so far, but because of COVID, they're not having quite as many. My mom has a studio apartment. All the meals are provided, and there is weekly housekeeping. They also have in-home care aides in the building that you can pay extra for. They also have a hairdresser in the building, a little snack shop, and an activities room.

I stayed in Garden Village for 9 years. It was a lot better when I moved in than it was when I left. The staff was not very well-trained, and the food was terrible. My room there was alright. They used to have activities for the residents, but they don't have them right now. The facade and the layout of the place were very nice, and they had a salon. The staff could be more accommodating; they're sort of reluctant to do whatever needs to be done. The food service there has declined, and it's not good at all. We used to have a chef there that was pretty good and then he left. It's all changed there this past year, and it's really going downhill. It's really changed since I moved in there. It was a happy place, but it's not now.

I went to Garden Village yesterday, and I seemed to like it. A couple of the staff members we met were really nice. We were able to go in some of the rooms that were unoccupied, they were pretty nice, one was a one-bedroom, they were a pretty good size, and the other was a studio apartment. The dining area was pretty good sized, they say right now they're only doing 20 people up there for lunch because of the COVID-19, but they could be able to go up to 40. I love the structure and layout of the place.

My friend has moved into Garden Village. We chose this one because their pricing was what we were looking for for my friend. Everyone is great. Her room is perfect. They just recently renovated it and it met all of our needs. The staff members there are easy to work with.

My mother is in Garden Village. You couldn't ask for better people to help you. They assist you with anything you need, and they're very attentive to their residents. It's an overwhelmingly great experience. They have a variety of apartments, and you can get all the way up to a two-bedroom apartment. With her having macular degeneration, we decided on a studio, so she wouldn't get lost in the room. It's nice, there's plenty of space for all her things, and she has a small kitchenette. They take people out on trips, they have trivia games where you can earn a garden buck, and they have an auction at the end of the month where you can spend the money to buy something. They have an exercise room, a horticulture room, classes for flower arranging, bible studies, ice cream socials, and doughnut socials. She seems to like the food.

I moved into Garden Village, which is independent living. It's nice, and everyone is really nice and very helpful. My only complaint is that in the brochure they showed all this wonderful gourmet food. The food is OK, but it wasn't what I thought it would be. It's just regular food. The staff is wonderful. I'm not used to all of the snow, but that's OK because they keep the sidewalks all cleaned up for you and everything. It's good because unless you're going to the doctors or shopping or something, they have so much stuff inside the community, like the cinema room, the painting room, and computer room. So I don't have to go outside for activities or anything. I'm just a little bit disappointed that I didn't get the gourmet food I thought I was going to get. The cleanliness and people are wonderful and I don't have complaints about any of it. I love the people and the place.

I like Garden Village very much. I'm quite content and happy here. I'm satisfied with the establishment. I like the residents. The staff members are very caring. My apartment is beautiful. There are activities, but I don't engage very much. Nevertheless, Garden Village is more open, so I don't feel confined here.

Garden Village was a very negative place to be. The staff did not take care of the residents. It was more about getting the apartments filled than it was about caring about the seniors. We heard from a lot of the residents that it felt like they had taken their money and not provide the quality of life the residents wanted. They had a computer room, art room, and they showed us where they played games. The food was OK, but it wasn't as advertised, and when they ran out of food, people could ask for something different than what they had on their menu. The dining area was spacious, and there's a little area out front with rocking chairs. I would not recommend anybody to be there.

Garden Village was a very beautiful place, and they do have a lot of activities. We did eat there, and the food was very good. They have a chef, and the residents order their food like they were in a hotel. And it looked like a hotel inside -- beautiful rooms and everything. The staff was very nice. My dad liked the place, but we couldn’t afford it. It was a nice place, but it was a little more expensive.

On the outside, Garden Village looks pretty and has nice lawns, but on the inside, it smells really bad. The staff was very friendly and very committed. They have a lot of different floor plans to meet different needs, and I like that. The rooms are clean and well cared for. The dining room looked up to standard, but it was nothing special to me. They have a calendar of all the different things that they did. There are stairs everywhere.

Garden Village is an old building that has been kept well. It is a really comfortable building. It has four stories with a central atrium. There is an area on each floor where you can entertain guests. It has laundry facility on each floor that are free for residents to use. They provide three meals a day restaurant style. You can choose from the different menu every meal. We have free cable TV, and free utilities. I don’t pay anything else except for the rent, and then they pay for everything else.

Garden village has been a great new home for my 85 yr old mom. She's been there for 8 months and loves it. She participates in most of the activities and has a lot of friends. It's intimate enough to get around well but large enough for her to meet folks. We really would like for them to have a van that's wheelchair accessible so mom could go on outings they have scheduled.

We are looking for a place for my father-in-law. What we liked about both locations of Garden Village were, number one, the security; number two, the fact that they had meals provided; and thirdly, the price was affordable, including the community fee, which was about $1,000. The location was important because it was 15 minutes from us. They would take them to their doctors' appointments and serve three meals a day. Everything was beautiful; I was satisfied.

Garden Village was far from me, but it was very well organized. They were pretty good in taking care of the elderly. They had different variety of rooms, which were pretty good and like a hotel. I would recommend it if they were close by because that was a good place. I talked to the manager, and the only reason why I could not bring my mom in there is because she doesn't speak English. They had a lot of activities, and I think they are a good place. If my mom spoke English, I would not mind putting her in there.

We were extremely impressed with Garden Village; thus we already signed to move there. They have a beautiful and lovely price. I certainly would recommend them 100%. The only downside about it is that if either one of us got ill -- me or my wife -- we need to move out. We stayed there for three days, and the food is excellent. They offer a lot of activities. They have drivers that take you to the doctors and to shopping. It has great amenities.

Think before you agree to live in this facility and read your lease carefully because you will be expected to pay a full 90 days whether you stay or not. My relative stayed two nights, hated the atmosphere and there was little staff available to acclimate her and help with understanding what a huge change assisted living can be. There was no compassion and understanding from the administrators and the resident was held to a full 90 day rent for a two night stay. There was much deferred maintenance, rusty refrigerator, dated stove, torn screen. Dingy little place. Nothing like the resident has been promised. Not a place I would want any loved one to go. We have found more suitable living arrangements where lease agreements can be terminated with a 30 day notice. There are plenty of options in the northland. Don't "settle" on this place and compare what is included in your rent.

Where to begin. Nothing gets fixed in a timely manor. The maintenance staff is spread too thin. Three competent men to cover over 200 apartments. The food is horrible, and in many case inedible. One evening the soup had so much pepper in it that it was impossible to eat. Another resident found a wire in the soup, and all that was done was to ask they wanted another bowl. The majority of the activities are religious based. Bible study, preaching services, gospel sing alongs. Any entertainment is either something that could have been arranged for for free, such as high school glee clubs. If they actually pay for someone to come in and perform they are usually friends of the activity director. The activity director has no clue as to how to do the job. Not qualified for the position at all. The sales reps. will tell a prospective resident anything the wish to hear just to get them in an apartment. Expect to get hit with a large rate increase each year. It can be as much as $125+ more per month. There is no consistency in rent rate amounts. Some individuals are paying as low as $900, while others are paying $1400 or higher for the same space. The professional staff all talk down to the residents with a patronizing tone. In essence it feels like being back in middle school with they way the residents are treated. The place is faded glory, and the carpeting in the dining room and common areas create an unsanitary environment. A flooring that is easily scrubbable would be much more in keeping. The management allow individuals to move in who desperately need full time care or assisted living at the least. They are NOT meant for independent living facilities. This whole situation ruins the experience for the healthy vibrant residents.

The one we saw yesterday was Garden Village. I really liked the location; it's in the middle of the country, but it's actually right by a freeway. You can't tell because there's a lot of land around it, and they have a lot of wild animals. We saw a deer coming out yesterday, there were swans in the pond, and it was very beautiful. The rooms looked like they'd be comfortable, and they have different sizes. Some of them were a little shabby, like they were not well taken care of. It is an older facility, so I think that the upkeep could probably be a little better, and it bothered my mother that there were so many hallways. The dining area was nice. They give them two or three choices for their meals. My sister and I went back three times because we wanted to make sure that we weren't making assumptions. The first time I was there, I was very put off by the staff. She wasn't very helpful, and she acted like it was too much to deal with us or something. I think she was just having a bad day, but still I felt like she wasn't helpful. My sister and I went again, and she was much more helpful. They seemed nice enough the second time around.

We have found a facility for my parents. The name of the community is Garden Village. We liked the facility, the people, and the services. The rooms and activity here are excellent. There are many different activities to appeal to whoever is here. If they are unable to find something to do, it's probably their own fault. They bring in music, and they have lots of small group activities. They have something going on all the time like craft groups and prayer groups. It is the first facility we visited. When we walked in, my mother-in-law said she would love to live here.

My mom is at Garden Village. It is like senior apartments. My mom has a very nice apartment. The first time I saw it, I thought it was spacious. However, I don't think it is the typical one-bedroom because they have taken two studios and combined them, so it is a little larger than most of the one-bedrooms. It is roomy. She really enjoys this place. They have a lot of activities. Everyday there is something going on. Meals are really good. We have eaten with her there, and their food is very good food, nutritious, and tasty. I think my mom is very happy there. I think she does like this place. The facility is not really new and modern, but it is very bright and cheerful. Another reason why we chose Garden Village was because they have three meals a day included in their cost.

I visited Garden Village. It was kind of old and run-down. They had a very nice common area, but the actual apartments were old and had outdated appliances. They had a building that was condemned outside, and I didn't like it. They do background checks on their staff, but they don't do drug screening. We only met one lady there. She toured us around, and she took us to the manager. I saw a high school choir singing to the people, but that was it. They were nice, but they need to update their facility. They should make thorough background checks on their staff and have more activities for the people.

Garden Village was a really nice place. It was located in a nice, secluded area. It used to be a hotel, and they turned it into a community retirement home. I had a hard time deciding between that one and this one that I'm in. They were very warm and friendly. The staff would work with you to accomplish your needs and help you move in. The room had two baths, a living room, and a bedroom. There was quite a bit of storage space. The food was very good. The dining area was very open, and I thought it was really nice because they had tablecloths, and it made it feel a little more homey and a little less like a cafeteria type. They brought the food around to you and asked you in courses, like what you wanted to drink, then somebody would come to and tell you, "These are the salads available." So you had choices, and I thought that was very good. One of the hardest things for me to get used to was the fact that I couldn’t decide if I wanted to eat at 2:00 instead of 12:30. It was not necessary for me to decide what to eat, and it was kind of difficult to get used to, but you had to adjust to that.

I did find my dad a place, and he’s been living in Garden Village since November. He actually referred a couple of family friends to move in, and he was very happy there. It’s close to my home, and we’re very happy to have him in a secure place. They had some staffing issues as well, as with the chef, but they were aware of this. I have tried the food and sometimes it’s OK, but the senior diet is mostly about food quality. I think they’re looking for a new provider, but they’re serving healthy stuff. They really have a lot of entertainment and entertainment groups come in, and they have trips to various places like the grocery store and shopping. There’s always something going on. They’re very interactive and they really try to draw the people so they won’t just stay in their in their apartments. The staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. The person who cleans my father’s room does a very good job; they do a very good job of keeping the staff well-trained, and overall everything has been very positive for us.

There were many things that we loved about Garden Village. Like, they had wide hallways, it was clean, they had nice place for everyone to gather, they had good size rooms, they had activities, etc. Also, the food is brought to you and it's not like a buffet. Everything was really good. It was perfect. However, you need to be really careful if you're not fully independent. My mom signed a contract with them but she really shouldn't have. Now, they wouldn't let her out of it. So that's been a real pain. Even though they came out and did an assessment of her abilities, and even agreed that she was not a viable candidate for this, but yet they're still making her pay. Don't sign a thing with them unless you're absolutely sure that you can live independently there because they will not lift a finger to assist you in any way at all. They're not rated for assistance and they will not give any assistance. I'm just really disappointed with them. Even though they agreed she is not a viable candidate, they're still forcing her to pay. Obviously, that has screwed up her credit. Also based on the fact that she went to the facility in a wheelchair, they should have questioned more her ability. They should have assessed it right then so that this whole issue could have been avoided. So I would rate them a 3. Even though the facility is fantastic, their management is not. The management is very important to the well-being of their clients. They should have been proactive enough to say to my mother, "You don't fit here."
