Southview Assisted Living & Memory Care didn't feel right for us. The staff was great, and the tour experience was fine. I did not like the place. I did not like the rooms. It was two stories and had big hallways. My mother-in-law wouldn't like it because she'd have to wheel herself to an elevator and go through a lot to get to anything. It's a big facility, but it was clean and parking was fine. They had activities.

Southview was warm and fuzzy, very personable, and you could tell it was a family right away, but a professional family. It's a very small community. They have a very quaint, small dining area. Everybody I saw was extremely happy. They have a fireplace, library, sitting areas, entertainment, trips, and transportation to doctors' appointments. The food looked great and the facility was very nice and fairly new.

Southview Assisted Living & Memory Care was awesome and very clean and didn't have a smell. They made sure the residents were always clean. I was there around lunch time, and the residents in the dining area didn’t look like they needed assistance at all. They offered Catholic services on Tuesdays. There's a day each week when they do only your specific laundry and clean your room. They have a happy hour and allow residents to partake in one glass of alcoholic beverage.

The only thing I didn’t like about Southview was that they had 2 communities, and each one was 10 people. My friend hadn't done well in environment where there was that full number of people, so I thought it would be better to have her where there were more people she could mix with. Aside from that, the atmosphere was fine. It just didn’t have enough people in the community. That is the only thing negative. Everything else seems to be OK, and they had certified staff.

Southview was really good. It was a very good place. The girl that worked with me was very nice. She showed me around. They have a memory care unit there. That was really good too. The staff has followed up with me as well. The facility was very nice-looking. The room was nice. Their dining area was a good size, and it looked very nice.

Southview was nice, clean, and looked well kept. The location was very convenient. They had a pretty good selection of rooms and apartments and an area for people with memory situations depending on the level of care they needed. The dining area was pretty small, but it seemed like the people there were happy. They had some recreational activities and maybe little field trips.

We liked the location and look of Southview. It’s very clean. The apartment is spacious, very nice, and accommodated everything we brought in. The food was good, and my parents liked it. The dining room hasplenty of room with no assigned seating, and there’s a private dining room if you want to reserve it. They have a Romeo and Juliet club, outings, sing-alongs, movie nights, and game days.

Southview is beautiful, and the staff is very good. My father is in a private room with a bathroom, two closets, and a window. They have all kinds of activities going on and go out for rides. I have eaten there and loved the food. He also loves it, and he's gaining weight. I liked how the place smelled. It smelled good in there.

Southview was a very nice place that we really liked. The facilities looked new. The memory care was really colorful and bright and let them engage, especially in the Alzheimer’s place. The rooms and facilities were really nice and a lot bigger than where she is in right now but more expensive. The lady that did the tour was very nice and helpful and answered all of our questions. We were really impressed with that.

Southview was great. I just like the feel, it’s comfortable, and I felt more at home. The staff was fine. We saw a room, and it was a little smaller.

Southview Assisted Living was a very nice and very clean facility. Their rooms were very nice and very clean. They have a bathroom with a walk-in shower, a bedroom-living room combination, and a dining-kitchen area. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.

I think Southview was a sister company of another facility I looked at. Its location wasn't exactly the best for where my parents are going to be comfortable. Also they don't have the living option that we needed. However, it was cheaper than the other facilities I've looked at. Also the lady who showed me around was outstanding.

Southview is a brand new facility. It is small but very nice. Because it is tailored as an assisted living, it has to meet certain criteria in Missouri State Law, therefore its price is high. It is pretty much the same as to where my mom is in right now, but it is just farther away and it costs more. They also have a full-fledged nursing home and Alzheimer's memory care.

Understaffed & why did my Father have to sit 14 hours with no electricity?
At 8:00 this morning I recieved a frantic call from my Father telling me that his electricity went out at approximately 6:00 last night (that's 14 hours with no electricity). He said his room had dropped to 60 degrees and that the facility waited until 7:00 this morning to call an electrician. I immediately called Southview to inquire what was going on. Well, I received mixed messages from them as to what was happening and what they were doing (or had done) about it. What I do know is that his electricity was indeed out. One person told me they had called the electrical company they have on call, but no one answered. I was told, "you know, it being the Holiday weekend and all....". Are you kidding me? You're going to tell me that because it's the Saturday after Thanksgiving you can't get an electrician to your facility so that my Father can have heat, lights and a phone? The stories just became more confusing. Once I was told they called the electrician but no one answered. My Father was told that the facility did not call an electrician and the situation was not handled correctly. Come on. Thank God the whole wing of the building wasn't out (it was just his unit). When I mentioned this to the Office Manager she said that they would have had someone out there if the problem impacted that many people. So, when does it become that important? When it's one person, 2, 5, 10? What a joke. If you're considering this place ask lots of questions. Lots of questions. I could go on, but at this point I'll let the folks at Southview figure out what really happened as they tried to get things fixed. Plus, I'm so frustrated that I'm sure the tone of my comments will come across rather strong. Look for updates from me as I learn more, and what they're doing about it. God bless our parents.

Overall the facilities were clean and the staff was nice and seemed helpful. My grandparents seemed to be happy there but i could tell that nothing was as good as the home they were living in before they had to go there. I would recommend this place to others as i could not see anything wrong in my visits.
