Sunrise of Des Peres was busy in a good way. The staff was very engaged with the residents. It was comfy, cozy, clean, nice, and roomy. The rooms were a little small though, and I didn't see a whole lot of people. The outdoor space was small as well. The staff didn't really show me a lot.

Sunrise of Des Peres was our second choice, but the rooms were not laid out well for what we were looking for and they were a little more expensive. It was a very nice and clean facility and I still had a very positive experience. The staff was very courteous. They had games and interactions with the residents. They seemed very nice and very capable of providing good service.

To me, pets are so therapeutic for people, and I loved that Sunrise of Des Peres has a dog that lives there. The facility was immaculately clean. I liked the size of the available rooms. They were old, but they were nice. They have a beauty shop where you can get your hair done, transportation at no additional charge, gorgeous grounds, and a gazebo that they can go to. The atmosphere's good. It doesn't look like an assisted living place, but an apartment complex.

My mother-in-law will be moving into Sunrise of Des Peres. She's wheelchair bound. This is a level 3 assisted living and they could do a Hoyer lifting. The rooms were smaller than I wanted. The facility was great, but it's bigger than we wanted. There were 50 assisted living units. Everybody was friendly. The one-bedroom we picked had a little sitting area, but the bathroom is not in the bedroom. There's no door, so it's hard for me to call that a bedroom. The staff was very nice. They have Bingo, crafts, painting, outings, and plenty of things that she can do. The food was real good. The facility was nice and clean, and there's no odor. It's three stories, and the third floor is memory care. I like that the hallways were a shorter distance, and she won't have to go very far to go to the elevator.

I liked the atmosphere of Sunrise of Des Peres, and the employees were very nice. I also liked the rooms that they showed me, and the dining area was restaurant-style with good food. They had a little fenced in area in the back which would be wonderful for sitting with our dogs.

I visited Sunrise of Des Peres for memory care. The tour went fine, but it was not what we were looking for. It was multi-level, and I didn't see much outdoor activity whatsoever. It seemed like a hotel with a very big grand lobby. The rooms were adequate, but not some place you could call home. They had a monthly calendar, and they had postings for each day or week.

Sunrise of Des Peres was beautiful. I would love to live there myself and it had a lot of what I like. It sits on top of a hill, but it's kind of off by itself, so you can actually see the main drag of Manchester Road. It makes you feel like you're at home, which I was very excited about. They have a great library as soon as you walk in, and a beautiful wraparound porch with rocking chairs. They present the food in a beautiful way on beautiful, colorful plates. They give the memory care patients a choice of two plates. Simple choices are the best, and the food looked very healthy, appetizing, and is served in an open air atmosphere. The apartment I saw had a little bulletin board outside the door that introduces newcomers to that person without them actually going in, so you get to know the person before you actually meet them. They have two people to a room, one by the door and one on the other side. In the middle is a bathroom and you have lots of space for a visitor without necessarily disrupting your roommate. It was very comfortable even though it was small. You cAN personalize it to your liking pretty easily, and make it a home for your family member at little to no cost.

I liked Sunrise of Des Peres. The setting was absolutely beautiful with lots of trees and flowers. They had a beautiful wrap-around sun porch where people could sit when the weather is not good enough to go outside. That's something my mom would really enjoy. I liked the way they had the whole place constructed. They had sitting areas where people could sit and take a break from walking down the hall. They structured the activities to the needs and the wants of the people who were living there. Everybody was extremely friendly. The staff personalized the way they talked to people. It's our first choice because it's a very nice place and very close to where I live.

Sunrise was very good and close to me. Their one-bedrooms and studios were on par with everyone. The staff seemed very upfront and friendly. They had one-day excursions and one- or two-hour shopping trips. The facilities seemed very nice, very clean, very organized, and well planned. The dining area was very nice.

Sunrise of Des Peres is basically comparable to where my friend is now, but they didn’t have an opening at that time. It sounded from the reviews I've read online that they didn’t have as many activities, and I think it is because they just opened last April. Actually, because it was new, their prices were a bit lower, and the location was better from the standpoint of her family. They had more ground around and landscaping.

Do not recommend. My parent was here and declined rapidly. Nursing staff not necessarily on site 24/7. Nursing director is all business and has no bedside manner. Care staff ok, some good some not so good. Meds were not properly approved and in place on day one. Found out my parent didn't get their diabetic meds for several days. Dining staff was out of control giving sugary desserts and juices to confused residents regardless of diet care plan. I was there helping to feed my parent. I witnessed this. It was a nightmare experience. I did contact state ombudsmen but chickened out. Very quickly needed hospice. At least I had some help keeping an eye on things. Even they were appalled. In house dr refused to authorize hospice meds. OMG. Decided to move out after one month but parent declined too rapidly. Sadly they passed away before we could set up the house and arrange transport.. I have to live with my decisions. This is not a place for anyone that can't take care of themselves (unable to toilet, dress, feed, dementia or confusion). The dementia floor has a waiting list and they place those waiting in the general population. I talked to various residents. They were scared to complain. Do not leave your parent here if you care. Yes I read the reviews and I toured multiple places. Maybe I'm too trusting and gullible. It seemed like a nice place. Homey. . I was worried my parent would not be accepted as a resident if he needed too much care. Of course he was accepted. They can only see $$. It's a business.

Sunrise of Des Peres was not clean nor prepared for our visit. The person who was supposed to give us the tour didn’t show up, so the chef showed us around. I felt that was very unprofessional.

My grandmother is a newer resident. The place looks nice but the dining service is HORRENDOUS!!! The cleaning staff is lax and rooms are filthy. For the price youd think they could keep up with those 2 important things.

Mom stayed at Sunrise of Des Peres, and I was not happy. My first impression was that it was going to be a great experience, but once I got into a relationship with them as far as communicating with the staff, nurses, and doctors, overall, I felt that they were defensive and resistant to communication. She was in an apartment, and it was excellent -- no problems with it at all. The facility itself is excellent and very beautiful. The menu appeared to be OK. I was not able to eat there, but the residents that were eating there seemingly enjoyed it. My mom had pureed food. They do have different activities like they have bingo, people come in to perform, Bible study, and arts.

Sunrise is close to my home, so I have easy access to get there if I need to do anything for my sister. The price is right. I'm very pleased with it. I have nothing that I can complain about. She shares a room, but it has a divider, so she doesn't see the other person at all, and she has complete privacy. The food is fine. The restaurant does very well.

The facility was beautiful and very expensive. It had a TV room, library, cafe, dining room, etc. Her room was a very nice studio - large window overlooking a private landscaped patio, small kitchenette. Nice large covered porches w/rocking chairs. Staff - you very seldom saw them; but when called they were pleasant. Dining room - service was deplorable - we waited over 30 minutes to get served many times. I often wondered how she managed there when alone. She was left to be independent there - a good thing until dementia started increasing and I began to worry about her and not being checked on enough. There was a house dog. The first dog was very sweet. The next dog could be quite aggressive and staff refused to put him up when he acted up. I took her to church on weekends but when it became more difficult for her to get around, we went to services on third floor. The couple were lovely and so cheerful to the residents attending. She loved going to see them and it seemed to satisfy her religious wants. Overall, a lovely place to look at, but service and attentiveness to residents seemed lax. I have been to other facilities where the building wasn't nearly as nice, but the caring compassionate staff made it a wonderful place to be. I didn't think that of this place.

My school's T.A. was injured in a horrific accident and was admitted for skilled-care at Sunrise of Des Peres. Friends and I would often visit him on our lunch breaks during the Fridays we were dismissed early. Compliments regarding the kitchen's preparation of food and meal-feeding habits to the less-capable residents soon surfaced- as our facility takes pride in having the best dietary program in the area. Our food program was exceptional compared to other facilities in which I had worked, and our mock-surveys and inspection results concluded exceptional food storage habits and ideal serving programs right in the facility, often limiting the assistance of a caregiver. To say the least, this had already been reflected in the views of our residents and their family members; even faculty and staff members made it a priority to catch a lunch before there were no more reserved. I would never feel more ethically or morally comfortable admitting a family member to Sunrise knowing that amongst other notable achievements, their diet and nutrition is in good hands.
