My sister-in-law has moved into Shorewood Senior Campus. It's a very friendly atmosphere. It's cheerful, but it's not quite modern industrial like some of the newer places are. It's a little more homey and cozy. The people are friendly. They offer lots of different activities and things. They have a pool and PT is available. Her room is extremely clean and large compared to the other ones that I looked at. She has a functional kitchen if she wants to cook. They offer things kind of ala carte. If you need them, they'll start out giving you more services. If they see you you're on your own for a certain thing, they take the charge off as you progress getting better and better, assuming you'll be leaving. She's there as respite care, waiting for her wrist to heal. I can't say enough. It's not home, obviously, but she's only been there two days and it's very comfortable and it's extremely clean. We've been visiting quite a lot and we were there a couple of times before she moved in. They have full service, and they have regular apartments. We know people that live in regular apartments with no care and they have the same kind of meal plans and all that. She has a studio, but it's large for a studio. It's kind of in an L-shape and they supplied all the furniture, toaster, coffeepot, flashlight, anything you need when you move in there as a respite. You didn't have to bring anything but your own personal toiletries and clothes. They have sheets, towels, and dishrags. It's kind of like moving into a very nice hotel that's like an extended stay. We saw people going on rides and scheduled trips. They have an exercise room and a library. The meal plans can be ala carte or you can just go on your own and pay for them as you go. They have around-town bus routes for your appointments or whatever. It's a huge place, but the extended care is small. They have escorts to the dining room. Each thing is kind of ala carte. You can have a lot of care or not so much. I'd go there in a heartbeat. I've only seen the staff a little bit, but they're all talking to each other, talking to the people, talking to us, and they're very friendly, cheerful, and look happy. So far, so good. My sister-in-law said she got a good bath and so far, everything she's needed has been met. It's big, but it's convenient. They have escorts if it's too far away for you, but there seems to be a lot of outdoor space you can get to, like little places to sit outside with fences around them, flowers, and good views from every room, and the hallways have nice parlors at the end where you can look out over some greenery. It's not like you're tucked into a big city. It's very pretty outside. There's more value for your money because things are given to you at the level you need. It's not like you're paying for all the meals and you don't want to eat in the cafeteria every day. Everything is kind of a choice and that can change during the month if you don't need it. You can have a lot of help at first and then as the month goes on, you can have less and they deduct. Everything I see there is good.

Shorewood Senior Campus is superb. They know everybody, everybody is very friendly, and they take time to explain everything very well. They take care of the place very well and they take care of the people like they are people so I'm very impressed. I kind of had a little problem with the kitchen staff but it's fine because they have excellent food. The facility is very clean too. For what my mother-in-law is getting, the money is well worth it.

Shorewood Commons Assisted Living was a three-story and elongated with different sections. The rooms were excellent. Right behind was a nice large pond-like lake. It's an excellent place. If I were to go tomorrow, that's the place I'd go to. Everything's good. They give you meals, but they have a nice kitchen area in each apartment, so you can cook your own. They have a gym and staff who will teach you and get you into the exercise programs. They have a swimming pool. It's the best one we visited. They have memory care and they have a nurse on-duty all the time. The residents loved it there. The backroom overlooked the park and the lake. They have bus service to stores like Target. I have a few friends in there.
