Horrible experience. Our loved one was there for about 11 days. It was $8600 per month for a room with a bed, a toilet, and a closet. The CNA’s/PCA’s were awesome but severely understaffed and way too much going on with the patients for them to be able to take proper care of any resident. Stuff got stolen from the room and could not be found. There were ZERO activities and ZERO direct care for our loved one. The food was OK and plenty of it. If you expect anything other than a room and a toilet….. RUN and Keep on running…..

Cottagewood in Rochester accepted my mother-in-law with her dementia. She's been there for a couple of weeks now, and so far, it's been very good, and it seems very clean. We haven't been able to go in very much yet because of COVID-19, and there's a 2-week time before we can visit her. Every information, if anything happens to her, they listen to our concerns. Her room is very comfortable and very clean. She is quite unresponsive since she's been there because of different medications, so she hasn't been able to participate in any activities. I know that they have different activities though. They do Bingo and play cards and things like that.

My dad is currently at Cottagewood Senior Communities. He moved in 2 to 3 weeks ago. He is still very confused because he has been diagnosed with severe dementia, but they're doing a good job in my opinion. I've talked to the people there, and they say he's eating pretty decently. They do not have a kitchen in the room, and they have kind of a community bathroom. I'm not allowed to go to the facility yet, so I can't really be specific. They prefer that he doesn't have a TV, and they don't have any place for him to cook his own meals, because they would prefer to have people get out in the common areas and kind of mingle with other people. We've been very happy with them, and the people out there are very positive. The communication I've had has been very good. We've been very impressed with the people that we've interacted with.

My husband has moved into Cottagewood Senior Communities. We have had friends and relatives that have lived there or are living there. They have an excellent system there with people living in cottages, and the people are very nice. Everything is very handy because you can drive right up to it. Everything is ground level. They have good care there. He has been moved from a larger cottage where there were more people. He was in quarantine for 14 days, and they had to keep him in this one area in cottage 7. Now, he's been able to go into cottage 3 and that's a little bit smaller as far as residents are concerned. It's more on the same level of his cognition. He hasn't completely dissipated yet, and he is still able to do a lot of things for himself. It's so much nicer than being in one of those big complexes because everything is on ground level.
I could drive right up to the backdoor where he is. It's so handy. We haven't been there that long, but I have friends that have had loved ones there with Alzheimer's. He always said they were very good to him. The staff members are good. When I call, they bring the phone right to him and I could get in touch with him right away. He's allowed to come out of his room and walk around. They have a nice all-season porch in the back. They have a beautiful courtyard that he can go out and walk around, and I've gone out there with him a couple of times. It's very nice out there, and it's quiet. They have dining areas where they have tables and there's usually seating for about eight at a table. You have to schedule visits 24 hours in advance and you can come in and visit them for a couple of hours in their room.
He says the food is good. They will have more activities as some of the COVID rules and regulations are relaxed more. They're having bingo several times. Periodically, they have people come in and play music for them, and they have bus trips every so often. They take a whole cottage full of people that can travel on a scenic ride. They're starting to resume more than what they did a month or two ago. The price is pretty standard for a private room in a facility.

The staff here are top notch. They truly care about the wellbeing of the residents. Staff go the extra mile to make sure everyone is happy, safe and entertained. I was truly inspired by the the level of empathy I experienced from the caretakers in my mom's cottage. They take residents on frequent outings and have many other stimulating events.

CottageWood was a good place for my sister during the early stages of her disease. The location was good for us, but as her disease progressed the facility was way too big and there were too many nurses. She had to navigate around to lot of furniture and people. The layout was not working for her anymore and we need something a little bit smaller. At the time we left, we weren't happy with the personnel and the way things were going.

My grandfather resides at this facility. The home is very clean. The decorations are modern and pleasant. The rooms are quite spacious. I enjoyed the staff's friendliness and caring manor toward the residents. The meals are home-made and delicious. Activities and crafts are offered daily. The residents have Alzheimers and can be difficult to deal with at times, but the staff is great and very knowledgable about their work and the residents. The facility is easy to access and has adequate parking. The people are well taken care off there.
