This facility is staffed by many "nursing assistants " who are apparently "trained"on the job.They pal around in groups and talk to each other while working with patients. I have personally witnesses a blood pressure taken with the cuff upside down and additional cups of juice set down and left next to several previous cups of juice at the bedside. My friend always had dirty glasses and was without hearing aids---or clean clothes when I came to take her to appointments, When I complained to her immediate caregiver ,I was informed that she "was independent" Since she has been there several years and since she was admitted there after a series of strokes,the concept of her "BEING INDEPENDENT"is laughable. She may be resistant to being helped but that doesn't make a person "Independent" This lady has lost 45 pounds in 2 years,is diabetic and has macular degeneration. I have talked with the Director of Nurses., demanded an independent ADLs assessment and I'm hopeful of improvement IN HER CASE but PLEASE be watchful and talk to the Director if you have a loved one in this facility and have concerns .
