My in-laws were residents in this so called “Memory Care”. This place is horrendous and unsafe. Administration is a joke and very unprofessional. The nurses and PCA’s working in the memory unit need to have the proper training. They were rough and rude working with my in-laws. My mother-in-law was in a wheelchair and transfers were horrible for her. There was absolutely no training for proper transfers. Many times I witnessed her be moved roughly and inaccurately - which was not only painful for her but completely unsafe as well. They even broke her wheelchair by transferring her wrong. They would say they were going to order medicine for my in laws and then forget to do so and then my in laws would go without the proper medicine. And we weren’t informed of this, we happened upon it- only to be told “we will investigate this”. This was a dangerous failure on the facilities part. On an outing with the facility, my mother-in-law was improperly belted on their bus. Again, training is greatly needed. I believe the lack of training is because the turn over for the staff is an unbelievable rate. The units weren’t cleaned regularly or cleaned well. The shower contained mold and was never kept clean. This facility had a convicted sex offender there playing music for these vulnerable adults. This is completely unacceptable and unsafe. When an issue was brought to the administration’s attention we always got the same response “we will investigate this”, but nothing changed. So we decided to move my in-laws out of there. Unfortunately my mother-in-law died unexpectedly there two days before moving out. This is where unprofessionalism comes into play- the administrator never once gave her condolences to us for our loss, she only said she needed to check and be sure we cleaned the units before we left. And we had one of the PCA’s tell us that this was probably our loved ones way of telling us she didn’t want to move. Seriously…training training and more training needed here. I wouldn’t send my dog to this facility and I wouldn’t recommend anyone send their loved ones here.
