We went to see the memory care at New Perspective in Columbia Heights because I'm pretty sure that's where my mom's going to end up. The tour was very good and informative. It's a very nice place. They looked very engaged with their people, and it was nice to see. They communicated with them one-on-one and answered their questions. Especially the staff member that I was with, she was busy, but as we walked by, she engaged with the residents, and that was good.
They have assisted living there too, and the memory care people can come out and enjoy their activities there too. It's a more open and lively area, which is good. They have a large screened-in porch, and they have an outside area on the ground level for memory care. It looked very open, very clean, and everybody was very friendly.
Memory care has its own personal shower, which is nice. You don't have to go down the hall for it. The room service was adequate for a full-size or twin-size bed and dresser, small table, and that kind of thing. It should work out just fine.
