I've toured Ecumen Oaks & Pines and the experience has been good. They're very friendly and knowledgeable when I ask them questions. They walked us through the different areas like the laundry, the dining, and the activity areas. The facility was very clean and welcoming. My parents are getting a 2-bedroom here, which has plenty of space and is laid out nicely. All the utilities are included except for the phone, and you pay for maintenance for the air conditioner. They have a monthly calendar of activities from cards to exercises and bell choir. They go dining out, they take them to different groceries or Walmart or whatever, there's a weekly activities schedule also. They also had amenities like a salon and barber shop.

Ecumen Oaks & Pines seemed very nice. The facility was good and the staff members were very helpful in answering my questions. They showed me a nice single-bedroom apartment, they seem well taken care of. I didn't try their food but the dining area was spacious and it looked inviting. They had a nice outdoor area with green space, it was a nice neighborhood.

Ecumen Oaks & Pines contacted me, and I went over and talked to the director and got some information. I really liked it, but they didn't have two-bedroom units; I really wanted a two-bedroom apartment. You could have meals or you can be totally free of any other services. You could just rent the apartment. It was very beautiful and very clean. I went at 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon, so there was no meal going on. They had a nice dining room, and they listed the menu. If you didn't like what they were having, you could order from another list. It was nice that you didn't have to eat what they were serving. You could have a hamburger or something else that day. They would bring it up to your apartment if you were ill. It was beautiful, but I didn't see many people around. There was a list for the week of what the activities there were, but I didn't see anything. They have garages if you have your car. They have memory care, but I didn't get into that area to see. You graduate from an apartment to just a room with a bath with no kitchen and all that. There you're more controlled. I don't think you go out on your own at all for your safety. It's nice to know you could stay there and move into that area if you progressed with your memory problems.

Ecumen Oaks and Pines is very nice and it's laid out very good. They have a lot of activities and mom seems happy. Her room is big enough. She's got her own apartment and if she ever has to move into memory care, it's the same type of room. The people working there are nice. Everybody's been very helpful so far. We haven't had any problems. The food is excellent and everything seems very clean and organized. They got things going on all the time. Her room has a good view.

My mother-in-law chose Ecumen Oaks & Pines. She chose it because she likes that they take the residents to shopping once a week, because she can’t drive anymore. They have a big-screen TV in their common areas, and the people are very nice. She also likes the size of the apartment that she is going to have. We are just waiting for an opening.
