We went to tour Scandia Shores. It was clean, nice, and comfortable. They met us with staff. She was very nice, and she took us around. When you come from a house, all the units looked very small, but it had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. They were knowledgeable and helpful. They answered my questions. The dining area was beautiful. That would be the one thing that would bring me there.

My mother has been here for four months. She was not ready to move but has been very happy since moving in on day one. The staff has always been attentive, the community has been easy to adapt to and plug into. The meals are incredible and very balanced. They plan many activities from great music, unique shopping trips and interesting outings. Once again I wanted to mention the food as I had no idea how important it was going to be but the meals are so good we find mom eats alot more.

My parents lived here for a number of years. During that time, my father was hit on two separate occasions by another resident. My mother was hit on two occasions by another resident and choked by a male resident. On each occasion I reported the incident to the Administrator, but nothing was done. Finally after my mother was choked, I contacted Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office who investigated the incident. If you love your family member, don’t have them live here as you will come to regret it.

We found Scandia Shores to be just right for my mom. It is excellent. The rooms are bigger, and there’s lots of lights and lots of windows in the room. It has a very good surrounding and landscaping. There are outdoor areas to go and rest or walk. The person who toured me around was excellent. We were able to eat meals there twice, one lunch and one supper, and the food was excellent. The service was very good, and the atmosphere in the dining room, which is of course where a lot of socializations will take place for older people, was really great.

My parents are in Scandia Shores. It is nice, open and bright. However, it is just independent living and not assisted living, but the place itself is nice. Everyone seems quite friendly. I think the staff is above reproach, very helpful, and friendly. They have a few meals that come with the charge, and the rest can either eat in the community dining or eat in their own room. I have eaten there and the food is good. They have pretty common activities like birthday parties, dance for the holidays, and they also go out as most of the places do. They also provide a van to the grocery stores. We think it is pretty good. They are happy there, and I recommend them to others.
