My mother is in Sunrise of Rochester. It's an assisted living and memory care facility. We love it there. They were willing to work with us on the price point, that's why she's staying there. They do lots of arts and crafts, they have singalongs, and they have a local kids choirs that comes and sings to them. Sometimes they bring in therapy pets or dogs, and for Thanksgiving they throw a huge dinner for everybody, like all the family members can come. It's almost like a wedding reception, so it's really nice, and everybody can get together, and they do a smaller version on Christmas. They always have something going on. She's just in a single studio room, and it's medium-sized. It's got everything she needs. She's got a nice view out the window. It's in a nice location. Everyone I've met has been wonderful. They're all great.

I arrived for my appointment at Sunrise of Rochester, which was right after lunch, so many residents were returning back to their rooms. There was a group of five or six ladies all gathered around a table just laughing and talking and enjoying one another's company. The staff was over-the-top and just fantastic from every level, and the way that the staff and the residents were interacting was very encouraging to see. I felt very comfortable there.
The lobby decor seemed to be a little outdated, but the resident floor decor was not as outdated. However, that would not affect my decision to put my parents there, because everything else that I saw was fantastic. The guy who toured me was also fantastic. Truly. He was very accommodating, and he answered all my questions. He had positive interactions with every other person that we came across.

Our tour at Sunrise of Rochester was nice. My wife didn't like the level of the windows; she felt my in-laws could fall through the windows because they're so low. The facility itself was all right. They had the same amenities as others, they had a dining room, they had snacks and meals. It's in a good location, downtown. The staff that walked us through was very good and very professional. The facility itself is dated, it needed updates.

I moved into Sunrise of Rochester. I have no complaints, they leave me alone, they don't try to manage me, the food is decent, and the room is nice. My only complaint is when they come to clean, they don't do a great job. They don't clean the bathroom very well, I think they just dust and vacuum, and I can't even tell they come to clean. I rarely see the staff, but when I needed them they were responsive. The room has room for a bed, I've got a love seat, a sofa, and there's a separate area where I got a little refrigerator and a sink. It's kind of like, it's all one room, but it's a pretty long one. I wish the bathroom had a bathtub, but it just has a shower, the closet is kind of deep inside, and there's a window view. I had problems with my curtain and they came and fixed them right away. The facility lacks any exercise equipment. They have bingo, we played bingo, yesterday they had a Halloween get together with a punch and cookies, so for holidays they have small things, but weekly they have bingo, and that's about it. They also have medication sing alongs which I have not attended.

My mother is in Sunrise of Rochester, and it's not working out for us. We're paying for services that we really weren't getting adequately. She is supposed to be turned every two hours, her meds kept getting mixed up, and when her blood pressure skyrocketed, I don't think they handled it appropriately. The dining room is decent, and the appearance of the place is nice. The case manager lacks the knowledge and professionalism, but communication with administration is good. The structure is well maintained, but it's overly priced for what you are getting.

Sunrise in Rochester was very nice and the gentleman who showed me around was very helpful. I liked the place. He showed me a little apartment which was very nice. The dining area and grounds were nice. It seemed like staff was around. I just was impressed. They have a dining area, a library, a craft room, and a place where they have parties.

I liked Sunrise of Rochester. It is directly across from the library and on the backside of the main street in Rochester, so they can walk downtown to restaurants and shops. The appearance of the place was good. We met with the resident managers and were well received. They were nice and talked about a whole range of things. From what I saw, the menu was good. If my friend would come into Sunrise, then she would be coming in at an assisted resident rate, so it was more expensive than independent living. That was the only downside. However, it was a nice community. It was an older community, and older communities are better because they have the bugs worked out and the staff is trained and familiar with the building. The layout and how they accommodated the residents were good.

I was very impressed with Sunrise of Rochester; there was a lot of action and things going on and lots of caregivers. I visited at lunch time, and it was like walking into a restaurant. I looked at a shared or companion room that was very spacious, nice. and in a good location. For an active person, it would be a very nice place.

My experience with Sunrise was excellent. I was impressed with the people who lived there, by the living facility, and with the staff's attitude about the people who lived there. Their interactions with the patients stood out the most. The dining area was very nice. I would recommend them.

Sunrise of Rochester was great. Mom hasn't been there, so I have more experience with the one in Bloomfield, but it seemed great, everything was well-kept, and the staff seemed very friendly. The rooms were very comparable. They were spacious and well-appointed.

The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to be helpful to the client and also the family members. My husband is in one of the larger rooms that has almost 600 square feet, and it's very big. I have eaten there, the food was good, and he said the food is fine. They have a lot of activities all day long. He has only been in Sunrise of Rochester for a week now, so he is not involved in too many of the activities other than the exercise group. They need more parking.

Sunrise of Rochester was absolutely beautiful. It's done in a lovely way, and it should really appeal to the seniors of today; it's very nicely done. I think they take good care of people; they understand what people need. On the con side of it, they didn't get back with me and didn't pursue anything, and then when I talked to a branch off of them in Bromfield, she had this woman call me -- her name was Carrie. Carrie didn't do any follow-up work, and when I got there, I was supposed to have an appointment with her as my understanding, and I didn't end up talking to her because she was somewhere else, so I spoke with someone that didn't have all the information although he did give me a grand tour. He really gave me a nice tour, and he was a very nice person, so I am sure they are all lovely people. I just don't understand why she didn't follow up like she needed to, so I lost interest.

Mom is in Sunrise. The decision is mainly based on location and the services of the facility. It is a Sunrise facility, and we think it is well maintained and that the care will be good. The setting is pretty, but mainly the decision is based on the proximity to her son's house. The staff is great. We have no complaints. They are taking good care of her. They are very attentive, and she says that everybody takes very good care of her. So, she's happy. I will recommend them to other seniors.
They have activities. They offer outings to restaurants and shopping. There is bingo a couple of times a week. There are different exercise programs every morning. There is crafting. There are a lot of outside entertainment that come in like music. There are parties that they invite the family to. Mom thinks the food is great. She actually gains weight there.
It has four floors, but it seems smaller and cozier on each floor. The room she has is a studio with a bathroom.

Sunrise seemed to be very well-run. It was very large, and they had a locked down unit for dementia. I liked it because it seemed clean. The staff seemed to work with their patients quite well. I didn't have any problems having my questions answered. They invited me for a meal, but I declined. They had social recreations, like some were playing cards and bingo. They had a music day. It was just very pricey.

Sunrise has a separate floor for memory care. The residents can't just walked off the floor. It's got elevator that is key coded. The memory care floor is geared to people that have problems. Some of the residents will be taken down to some of the activities. Sometimes a piano player would come in, they have singing, bingo, exercises, and they can come down and join that. But they'll have someone that will take them. The rooms were fine and spacious enough. They had a good setup for memory care. They take care of what they're serving the people on the memory care floor. The dining area was nicer of course on the second floor. But the memory care is not as nice.

I was extremely disappointed with the lack of care some residents encountered. I would go to see my relative and have all the workers standing together talking to each other and/or on their cell phones and not interacting with the residents. There were 1 or 2 that actually cared but overall I was disappointed and there are better homes for the price in the area.

My husband's mother lived at Sunrise of Rochester for three years. I would give that 5 across the board. The facility itself was beautiful. It was like a 5-star hotel but it also cost a lot more money than others. The staff was excellent. They were very caring. Food was good. As far as activities, I was aware of some of them and my mother-in-law participated in a number of things. They had exercise classes, little field trips, etc. They had similar things to what most places like that offer. I would surely recommend them.

My aunt was a resident at Sunrise of Rochester. She had her own little apartment and was provided with the assistance services to help her as needed. I was very impressed by the beautiful facility and caring staff. The overall environment is nice too, it seems like an apartment complex for senior citizens rather than a hospital. The downtown area of Rochester is very nice as well. They have a lot of social trips to local businesses and restaurants. The surrounding area is lovely too. There are gardens in the back and it is overlooking a river. The only downside to the facility is the price. It was very expensive to keep her there compared to other locations, but in my opinion worth every penny. The staff were always kind and friendly and ready to help at a moments notice. Every room has an emergency system where the residents can call for help if they need it. It is very reassuring to have this so they can connect easily to someone who can help.
