Me & my daughter visited February 2023 and to say this place needs major cleaning and upgrades is being kind. The lobby & dining area were drab and uninviting. They took us to see an apartment on the 3rd floor and told us there was a pipe that burst @ several units were damaged. There was an odor in the hallway and the carpet was filthy. The unit was very small and needed major updating. The pictures online are very misleading - it’s best to go see it for yourself!

I toured Holiday Sterling Place. It was a very nice place. The staff was knowledgeable. He told me about their program and what they would charge if my grandmother needed assistance and that she would be re-evaluated frequently. The room that I saw was nice. I liked that it was a 1-bedroom and the setup was fine. The place was clean and decent. They had a game room, a movie room, and a courtyard.

I toured Holiday Sterling Place. It was a nice community. I saw a 1-bedroom apartment and it was nice and clean. The dining room was nice and it looked out to an outdoor space. They had a gym and game rooms. I saw the residents interacting while playing cards or watching TV. They had a walking area outside.

We toured Holiday Sterling Place, and my mom liked it a lot. The facility was nice. It was very clean and modern. We liked the size of the apartment. They had a lot of recreational things for the residents, and she likes that. The staff was very nice and very attentive. They followed up with me with phone calls. They also gave us a great tour and introduced us to the cook staff.

I toured Holiday Sterling Place for my friend. It was nice and clean, and I didn't have any problems. I liked the fact that the staff was nice and the place was super, and I mean super, super, super clean. The rooms were extra large. I know that being there would be nice. I was surprised. The building itself was immaculate. They showed a room where you can play bingo. I would recommend that they check it out because it's nice.

Holiday Sterling Place was a very nice facility. The amenities were all nice. They had a game room, transportation, TV, sitting area, and just about everything. They had activities for the residents. The rooms were nice, but a little bit too small for me. The staff that I met were pleasant.

We went to Holiday Sterling Place. It was beautiful, clean, neat, and updated. It just felt warm and inviting. It was a little pricey. It's too bad that they did not have any subsidized or lower prices for seniors. The apartments were nice, and my mother liked them. She really liked the building. There was an activity room, and they were doing some kind of event. They were all gathered around, and we liked that. They were really warm and friendly. I think I saw the social director interacting with the clients, so it was good. The dining area was clean, neat, and beautiful. It was excellent. They showed us everything. We saw the whole building and everything. We saw where you wash, where you pick up your food, the cafeteria, the common area, and the area where you just sit and lounge in the front.

We chose to have dad at Holiday Sterling Place, because it's affordable. So, it's got a good value for the money, plus it's a good community environment. Appliances are provided and they have a laundry facility there. The staff is professional. They have activities, such as bingo, movies, and outing.

Holiday Sterling Place was nice and clean. We saw some of the residents there. It didn't seem as friendly as the place we selected, but it was a nice place. The room was nice and spacious. It was our second choice. The staff was OK. They seemed a little busy, so we had to wait for them. They told us that they had bingo nights. They had card playing, and they also had outings for the residents.

We toured Holiday Sterling Place and my mother liked it. She had a meal there and she enjoyed the food. The person that gave us the tour was very personable, really nice, and very accommodating. However, there was a discrepancy in the price that we were told during the tour and the rate sheet that we received. My mom kind of got her hopes up, but then when we found out that there was that discrepancy, it was disappointing. The rooms were very spacious. They had a library and a nice community room where residents could meet. They didn't have any structured activities that some of the other complexes had, but they're in the process of trying to develop different activities based on what the residents want or show interest in.

I didn't like Holiday Sterling Place. It reminded me more of a nursing home atmosphere, and it's not what we're looking for. We're looking for independent living. The rooms were very small, and the kitchens were almost non-existent. We cook so that just wasn't for us. They had a very nice dining room. It was lunchtime when we were there, and the food smelled awesome. They had laundry facilities, and the machines were all new. They had lots of activities. The people that walked by that work there said hello. They were friendly. The girl that did the tour, her name was Nikki, she was very knowledgeable, very helpful and easy to talk to. I didn't see their staff that long, but they were nice and very helpful. The girl said they were doing a lot of updating. The carpets in the hallways were filthy, and they had a lot of things there.

I toured Holiday Sterling Place. The staff took me to the game room, and the piano room and I did a tour of a one-bedroom apartment, which was nice. He was getting ready to take me to the other side, but it was a room like the rest of them, so I didn't let him. I just left after that. Everything was perfect. He showed me the dining room, and it was very neat and clean. The staff who did the tour was a nice man. They had a salon and a library. They were pretty small rooms though. The staff did the best he could.

We have visited Holiday Sterling Place. Honestly, we were not impressed with that facility. It wasn't a bad facility; it just wasn't a fit for us. It felt like a college dorm room experience. There weren't many amenities offered. It was almost as if they were trying to implement a few things, and they were in the process of getting things started. It just didn't appear that they were organized. They showed us a model, which was nicely decorated. The maintenance wasn't horrible, but they had a lot of repairs. You can see a lot of dirt and dust, and you can also see where the wallpaper was beginning to peel off in certain areas. It could use a little curb appeal on the building. The paint was falling off of the building. The only thing that was mentioned to us as far as the amenities, they had like a little arts and crafts room. Most of the residents were kind of like hanging out in the lobby area. We didn't see much of anything. The dining area was closed so we were not allowed to sample the food. The staff who gave the tour was nice; she was professional.

Sterling Place was pretty nice, but my friend wanted the two-bathroom, more than anything. He said it's for when his son comes from out of town. He was stuck on that two-bathroom thing. I didn't think it was necessary, but he did. Sterling Place didn't have any two-bathroom. They only had the bathroom in the lobby and then one bathroom in the apartment. The staff was very nice and very friendly. The rooms were a little smaller than where we ended up, but they were decent-sized. That was gonna be our choice until we found the other one. A friend of mine lives there. I had gone there for a meal with her on Thanksgiving, and the meals were very tasty. I enjoyed it. The dining area was nice. The people that were there were very friendly and very nice. They had a nice-sized lobby and a piano. I thought that was nice. The people didn't just seem to be staying in their apartment. They were mingling and out and about. They were doing an exercise.

I like that Sterling Place provides three meals a day in the dining room and that there are activities and options for the residents. My brother's only been there a little over a month, but if I had any issues, they've been resolved quickly. They have scheduled trips to various places for shopping and they have the activities director that provides games for those that are interested in the afternoon. I like that the dining area is very bright and very spacious. Overall appearance is okay, but they could be spruced up a little bit.

I went to Sterling Place. There were a lot of options for community activities. I like the fact that you could get your choice of carpet or laminate flooring, that looks like hardwood, but it was laminate. It was a clean facility. The grounds were nice, and the staff was nice. The staff was a perfect fit for the job, very personable, really informative. She took a lot of notes as to what I wanted. They offered meals, but in the apartment, there was a kitchenette. Their kitchen was small, but it had full-size appliances. They had a washer-dryer on the floor, which they offered the option of someone doing your laundry, or you're doing that yourself. The kitchen had a stove, a microwave, and a refrigerator. They had a balcony and courtyard.

My dad is currently in Sterling Place and he's doing fine. He's in a senior care just where they prepare the meals, and you can pay for this addition, like if you want them to give him his meds and you want them to wash his clothes, they'll do that. He really likes the staff, and it's very clean. He enjoys the food. All our needs have been met. The staff is very kind. They love my dad and he loves them, so they really go all their way. They're personable, real friendly, and besides just doing their job, they go that extra mile, they make sure they're always giving him extra attention and coming up to his room, letting him know it's dinner time. They're very good staff. It's very nice, and you can get individual rooms, like small apartments. For us, it's a perfect location. My sister lives a mile away, it's right off the freeway so I can get there pretty quick. I'm in West Bloomfield. I'm about ten or 12 miles away, so the location is very good for us. It works very well for us. They exercise, dance, and play video games.

My friend moved into Sterling Place. I like the location, and it's close to me. The apartment is a nice size. They allow her to eat with people. They have activities scheduled for them. It just met all of our needs, so we found it to be a very nice place. She's adapting very well. They do offer Easy Care Living if you need somebody to check in on her or to assist her down to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We have been pleased so far. Everyone that I've met has been very friendly, male and female. They are attentive to the tenants or individuals that live there. They are very helpful with anything that we need. They don't hesitate to assist if we need assistance. I like that when they come and sit down in the dining room they are given different selections of what they would like to eat. Their food is brought to them; coffee, tea, lemonade, or whatever they're drinking. They serve like in a restaurant. They have Bible study. They have a walking club if you like walking. They also have exercises for the tenants. They do different craft projects with them. They give them a sheet of all the activities. The facility is always clean and not smelly. They keep the public restroom clean. They have housekeeping that comes in once a week who vacuum and dust the apartment for the tenants. They have a towel and linen services. She has been retired for years, and it fits into her budget nicely.

I liked Sterling Place. It's roomy, and they have both single bedrooms and double bedrooms. I liked the double bedroom the most because I don't like small places. The help seems very helpful. The girl that took us on the tour was really nice and very helpful too. They have a laundry room, where you could go in to do your own laundry. You use a card for it, so you don't always have to have money with you. If you're not a resident there, you have to get screened to go in (even other family members) to make sure you don't have a fever and whatnot. Then you get a little badge saying that you're OK to come in. The dining room was large, and they have activities over there. I was really impressed with them.

My mother has moved into Sterling Place in Southfield. They have a housekeeping and linen service. They have meals included with the pay; you can walk to the dining room, or they can have it delivered to your room at a small cost. The laundry service is right there in the building. They have the building separated into a quiet side and a more active side. Everyone was very accommodating. They have activities; they have live band, exercises, a walking club, and bingo. They have free transportation for outings. You just have to give them a 48-hour notice to sort it with the bus drivers, and maybe put you on a route or something. It helps seniors be independent. I haven't had enough interaction with the staff, so I can't speak to that. The leasing manager that did the tour with me has been my resource; she has been great. My mom had breakfast this morning, this would have been her first meal there. She said it was good, it was fine. She said she was full, so I guess it was good enough for her to eat, and she ate enough. It looks like a restaurant-style dining, and they serve the residents there like they're at a restaurant. I think it's nice. My expectation and what was promised to me, nothing's perfect, but it's great, it meets our needs. There were some things not quite right with the apartment, but they were minor; I need to be able to give the maintenance department a chance to correct those things. I know the place looks clean, but the maintenance part of it I can't speak to. There's no smell and it looks clean, so for cleanliness, I would give it four stars; maintenance, I would have to defer until I have an experience with them.

We did the tour at Sterling Place in Southfield. One of the things that my mom didn't like is that it didn't have its own independent washing machine and dryer. The independent living had a laundry room, but she doesn't want to do that. It was a really good tour and very informative. They were able to show us a unit that they would be getting ready for the size that she wanted. Everybody was really, really nice. Everybody was smiling, even the residents. There were some residents that were sitting outside when we were there. They were like, "Welcome to the community." I like that everything was included in their price. We did a tour somewhere and the utilities were not included. It may have been just a regular apartment community because everything was separate. The residents had to pay for their own water and all that. With Sterling, I think everything is rolled up into one. I also like the fact that the kitchen was open to them, whether they wanted to eat there or not.

I was pleased overall with my tour at Sterling Place. I liked most of the things included in their program, like the meals, electricity, and the laundry. That's huge for me. I was not as impressed with the spaces in the room, but that's the only thing that wasn't impressive. The staff was informative, very helpful, and overall pleasant. I saw the menu. It looks very diverse; it's perfect. I'm sure if I were there I would want to cook something of my own, but they have some pretty good options, seven days a week.

I just moved into Sterling Place and we're getting used to it, but my experience so far has been good. Today we went on an outing with the group and we went to a cider mill, so it was a good experience. The staff is very friendly. I have a one-bedroom apartment. It's just me and my little dog, and there's just enough space. You can choose independent living, which I did, or you can choose assisted living if you need it. They offer three meals a day, and the food I've had so far has been good. I'd rate them a four because they replaced the carpeting in the room that I got, they put in new flooring, and they painted the walls. They did a good job with that. The only thing I can say is that the carpeting in the hallways needs to be replaced, but there's no smell or anything like in other places. The staff has been very good.

Sterling Place was great. The staff was fantastic, and they had a list of activities. However, it's geared towards senior living and you got to pay separately for any help that you might need. If mom was 10 years younger, I might have considered it.

Sterling Place is ten acres and there's 175 people here. They provide three meals a day, seven days a week. I have a pretty nice apartment with a balcony, with electic, gas, and water included. It has a kitchen with all the appliances, centralized air-conditioning, and carpets. They cut the staff down way too fast, from ten to five people. The staff members keep quitting, so they keep hiring and training new ones. They have a computer room, a library, Wii room, a room for bowling, and a setup room for games. They play Bingo and do yoga. There's a therapy room, a big fireplace, a large TV, and a large dining room. They have a lot. The food is better than it used to be. I didn't like it before, but they got a new chef and he's pretty good.

I did not meet any of the staff at the Sterling Place other than the intake person. The area was clean, open, and renovated, and there was a well-attended activity in the common area. They were doing a horse race dice game, which was led by an employee. The dining area was large with many separate tables to have privacy and not eat in large groups, which is a big plus for me. The room had a good floor plan and offered a kitchen, which was a requirement of my mother-in-law who wants to cook all of her meals.

My dad has been in Sterling Place for two months in a nice one-bedroom that's adequate for him. It’s a nice place. I like it. He's a little up in the air about the food. They have a decent staff. The people interact with each other, and for somebody that is somewhat active and still able to do things for himself, it's a good place for him to be.

Sterling Place was nice, but it was not right for my mother. The set up was nice -- which was more like an apartment where you get on an elevator -- and you can have a private room. Her room would have a kitchen which I didn’t too much care for even though they were going to unplug the stove because my mom has dementia. I would still recommend it for somebody else but not for a person who has dementia or Alzheimer’s. The staff person who showed me around was nice. It was nice and clean, it didn’t have a smell, and the people were nice and professional. Their dining area was very nice; it was like a banquet room.

Sterling Place's staff was very friendly, and the facility was very nice. The amenities that they had fit my dad's needs. They provide 3 meals a day, and the apartment comes with a small kitchenette. They have a pull cord in case of an emergency for a fee, and they have help for his medications. They have outings and a bus that provides transportation to and from doctor's appointments and grocery stores. The place is a smaller facility, and it’s only 3 floors.

Sterling Place is independent and assisted living. The rooms are very nice inside. You could of course bring your own furniture. My mom has a one-bedroom with a living room and a small kitchen for cooking if they wish to cook, although the dining room is really where they eat. They get three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dining room is setup with real glasses, plates, and white table cloths. They have formal dining. They have an activities room where they play games or have many activities. There is also a living room and a fireplace where they have activities as well. When they have entertainment, sometimes it overflows into the living room. They have a lot of activities for them. They also have a rehabilitation department for physical therapy. They have a library and two laundry rooms. They have studios and one-bedrooms, and in some instances where they have couples, they have a two-bedroom. The one bedroom is very nice. We are trying to get used to the food. The food is probably what they should be because they are low in sodium and no fried food. The portions are not really large, but they are sufficient, although it is kind of bland. They don't use a lot of seasoning in the food. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The assisted living is private and is not staff members of Sterling Place. They contracted in a health care or caregivers. So it is like a separate contract that you have to pay for if your loved one requires assisted living. I think it is entirely too expensive. That is one reason I was looking because it is going up for one-bedroom and three meals. Nobody gets up to eat breakfast, which has hardly anything anyway. Their breakfast is very minimal like an egg and a piece of toast or cereal. They do have a lot of men there because they give a consideration for veterans. They give some kind of discount if they are veterans. They have special things for men like pool table. Women can go there too, but it is mostly for men. The place itself has a beautiful setting. It sits back off the street with beautiful lawns and trees. They have outdoor type sitting either on the porch or they can go out back to a garden area. It is a little too pricey, and not everybody can afford it.

Sterling Place is OK. All of the staff was nice except for one that I didn't really particularly care for because of what she said in public especially with people walking around thinking about moving someone in there. The young lady was talking about one of the clients saying she can’t talk to her that way and she doesn't care if she is old. I thought that was very tacky. The rooms were clean, and it was smaller than where my friend currently is in. The dining area is nice with a beautiful view of the park like area. As for security, there is always someone at the front desk. The tour guide was friendly. Me personally I don't know if I can recommend it to others because of the one staff member. I hate to say something about the whole place because of one staff member, but I wouldn't send anyone there because of the way she talked about one of their clients. You have to be patient with them.

I got my mom into Sterling Place, but unfortunately she passed away on March 20th. It was nice even when they were going through the transition and everything; it was just really nice. The food was OK. They had a daily exercise class, bingo nights, movie nights (3 choices a week), a nice little library with computer access if anybody wanted to go online, and trips to the casino. I would recommend it. For senior housing, this would be the place to be.

Personally I did not have a very good experience with this particular facility. Almost all of the people working there seemed as if they did not enjoy being there. Many times workers seemed agitated, irritated, or annoyed to be dealing with residents that required any type of specialized assistance which was almost all of the residents. My father was living there after suffering a stroke and because of his stroke he would often times become confused. One night I received a phone call saying that I needed to come up and get my father urgently because he had tried to run away from the facility. When I got there the manager of the facility told me that he was no longer welcome to live at their facility and that he needed to find a new place to live immediately. I was outraged to say the least. I understand that they are worried about the possibility of him trying to leave again, but what I don't understand is how and assisted living home is not equipped to deal with these types of occurrences. I am convinced that this would not have happened if employees of the Heatherwood were more attentive and caring for residents. Although the food there wasn't bad, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I think The Heather wood Independent Living Retirement is an excellent choice for placement for someone who is looking for an independent Retirement community to fulfill their life style. They provide assistance within the comfort of each individual resident's apartment. The also offer supportive services that meet their residents individual centered plans of care. They provide the highest level of care to their residents that is provided by their skilled trained Nurses, Cena's that is on site 24/7. They provide a varied menu for their residents in their fine dining area formally setting for their residents to enjoy. While there, I noticed that their residents were having various social events. Some times they provide for their residents there a social event happy hour for their residents to socialize and interact with one another. They talk and mingle sociably within their senior community there. They all seem to know one another very well they even provide dancing events for their residents to enjoy and stay youthful as they possibly can. Their staff members are skilled, trained, very professional, team and task oriented in their job duties and performances. They offer their residents with an array of services and encourage them to remain independent as possible. I would rank this facility a five stars rating for their excellence and expertise.
