My wife has moved to American House Troy. The staff so far is good, and they have amenities like a gym and salon. They're having some staff issues, so it's hard getting food delivered. They have lots of activities, they have a sing-along, bingo, a lot of scrabble, and exercise. It's near hospitals and restaurants.

So far, we're pleased with American House Troy. It's only been a month. It's maybe too early to tell, but overall I would say we're happy.
I don't know how many units they have, maybe over 100. It's 3 floors. I don't think they have any studios. They're 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments, two wings, and the center is a lobby and cafeteria.
They have an on-site rehab facility. They use a company called the Medical Team for their elderly care services. They have a nurse there about 40 hours a week too. They have a laundry service and housekeeping service once a week. They make the beds and empty the garbage daily. They have a small movie room, a small community card game room, and a beauty salon. They also have coin laundry if they want to do their own laundry.
My dad's really happy with the food. I think because of Covid, it's hard because they're serving everything; they're not eating in the cafeteria. It makes it really hard since they deliver food every day in Styrofoam.

My mother is on the assisted living part of American House Troy. It's clean, people are very friendly, and she has her own apartment, which has a little kitchenette. Somebody comes in and cleans for her. It's perfect for her and she loves it. She's been there for several years; it's nice. The staff does a great job; they really do a good job with her. From what I can see that she's eating, she seems to like everything, and if she doesn't like it they would substitute it, so she never complains. It's beautiful, very, very nice, and well-taken care of. In the beginning they had a lot of activities, but it waned off a bit. There is plenty to do. They have bingo, cards, and movies, there's a rec room over there, a place to do puzzles, arts and crafts, and you're free to go outside and walk around the grounds or sit on the benches over there. A lot of people do that, just sit around outside over there.

American House Troy was quite far, but it sounded like a pretty decent operation out there, and something that I would have recommended. The staff seemed to have good interaction with the residents, and to me, that’s something seemingly important. Their price was a little high, but reasonable.

I lived in the American House and loved it. I had a one-bedroom apartment and would go down and play games with the people and do all kinds of activities with them. However, I had an accident with fire, so they kicked me out and told me that I cannot go back there.

I visited American House, but it was so expensive that I couldn't afford it. It's fantastic and had everything anybody could ever want, including meals, but it starts at $1,800. They don't have bad food, but it's old people food. I'm 70, but I'm not eating mush, that's for sure.

American House Troy Senior Living is a very large facility, so Mom would have to do some walking from one place to another. I feel they would not be able to check on Mom as much as we want them to. The price goes up as you add on more services for the resident.

My mother is at the American House in Troy. It's closer to her relatives than where she was previously. They have free seating in the dining room, which is very important, because she doesn't want to be assigned to a table. The apartment has all of the physical attributes that she wants as far as walk-in closets, a large pantry, linen closets, and two bedrooms. The only deficiency is there's only one bathroom. She wanted at least a bath and a half to two baths. They serve very good food. They have a number of outings, programs, and activities. However, they should improve on the amount of services provided. My mother likes to go to church. They do have services, but she would like to go to a nearby Catholic church, and they don't provide any transportation for that.

When we visited American House, the staff was fine. The food was good. The dining room and the rooms were nice. The facility seemed clean enough. However, it was not what we needed, and it was too expensive.

We chose American House (Troy Senior Living) because it seems quite nice. The people were nice. The things that they were offering seemed to fit for our aunt. The staff were very nice, helpful, and informative. They take the seniors out on shopping trips and field fields. They also have bingo and cards and they play Wii. The residents are very active and we thought that would be good. The food seems excellent and she enjoys it. They told us that they have a particular chef who prepares it. It worked out so far very well.

The residents of American House Troy were very active, much more so that what we found in other facilities. It's a very nice facility. My dad has his own apartment. They have a lot of activities to keep everybody busy, they provide transportation a couple times a week to local shopping centers. The medical staff just seems very nice, very friendly, and they have some kind of an ala-carte system. It's really an independent living place, but we are able to purchase the services that we need for my dad to be taken care of. We are very happy with it and it's close by to all of us, which was a big requirement. It needed to be able to take animals and this place just meets all of our needs. There had been some things that we've not been happy with, but they are kind of minor.

My mom is at American House and it's very good. It is close to home and it has all the amenities that we were looking for. It has a nice atmosphere. The staff tries to include everybody. Things are going very well. I would recommend them.

When I visited American HouseTroy Senior Living, there was an on-going renovation. I was not able to get a good look at the place. The rooms and staff were good. I was able to look at their menu and it was just right.

This is a lovely location to place a loved one. It allows them the freedom to be active on campus whether your family member prefers either a more secluded life style or one where you are a social butterfly. The rooms are spacious with special precaution given to those that might need added help while staying at American House. Safety and quality of life are two very important themes. There is a gym facility and even a boutique for special occasions. The staff is always courteous to residents and family alike while maintaining the grounds. The staff also gives the residents space so they can have freedom on campus to enjoy what they have to offer. As a family member we are allowed visitation at any time so long as it is not late so to not disturb the other residents. Not only does the staff encourage frequent visitations but those on campus are given scheduled transportation to functions and sites near by. This gives the residents a wider picture than most homes I have had the experience to see.
