My grandmother was here while in rehab. They are understaffed and it shows. It usually takes at least an hour for someone to help my grandmother after she pushes her call light whether it is for pain meds, the bathroom, etc. The rooms are pretty dark and depressing. My grandmother describes it as “ a dungeon”. The people working directly with her are kind, but the weekend front desk if pretty rude. Would be looking for a different care facility if we need one in the future.

The Durand convalescent center was a very good facility. There were 2 decent-sized cafeterias that served a variety of foods and were designed specifically to each persons needs. The staff was very caring and also seemed to enjoy our caroling every time we went there. All of the elderly folk would join in on our christmas songs. The place had a good spirit about it. There were around fifty different rooms at the facility. They did lack the decor of a high scale facility but the rooms were all of decent size. The hallways were spacious enough for two or three wheelchairs to be pushed along side each other. This made it easier for the elder folk to converse with each other as we took them from room to room for different activities. There was a large room with a piano and some other musical instruments for people to play on and there was also a karaoke machine for those that enjoyed singing.
