My girlfriend is in Beaumont Commons Dearborn's independent living. I ate in the bistro and it was very, very good, better than a restaurant in the area. It was very spacious and open, and it was all clean, and there were no masks. The staff was helpful. They had very nice grounds and lots of trees and stuff, and a well-kept parking lot. Everything looked like it could have been very well-maintained. They had memory gardens and stuff outside, so there was plenty of room on the grounds, plenty of room in the common room, and the apartments. My girlfriend's apartment was very spacious and very nice. It was about 800 square feet and you did not feel cramped. I like that place. The staff seemed helpful and friendly, even though they were wearing masks. Unless I asked them to do something and they couldn't do it, they stayed out of my way, so I liked that. The food was very good. I had a chef's salad there and a few other little side things. They were all just excellent and fresh. The amenities I saw looked good to me, and they all looked first-rate.

Beaumont Commons - Dearborn is large and very nice, but I was shocked at the cost. The atmosphere is very good. The people are much older than me, and I'm 68. It has independent living and assisted living. My girlfriend is in the assisted living. They have a small bank, a small worship center, a dining room and a bistro, an exercise room, a little shop, underground parking, a walking trail, and nice outdoor camp. I looked at a nice one-bedroom apartment.

The rooms of Oakwood Common are very neat and clean. They have a cleaning crew that comes in once a week. The staff is always friendly with smiles on their faces, and they know me and my mom by name. They are always there, willing to assist if I have any questions, and they show great concern. I think it is a nice facility. I have not eaten there, but the food looks very presentable. They make sure that the residents get nice meals. My mom has full-fledged dementia, and she does like it in her own way. They probably need a bit more variety of activities for the people to do there.

Oakwood Common is very nice. It's expensive, but their price includes amenities including food and they clean your apartment. TV cable and utilities are all covered except for the phone. They seemed to have lot activities. From what I saw, they have a couple of calendars and it seemed like it's an active community. The staff seemed very congenial and a little high class. The surroundings are nice and they have areas to walk around with trees. It's a plush place.
