Sunrise was a very nice one, and we were very pleased with it. It's just that my sister needed a bit more attention to her needs than they could offer. It's a a very family like setting with about 50 people there, I think. It was very family like and just small enough. It's easy or accessible for our friends, so we chose Sunrise because it was closer and more accessible to her. We were given a menu, and that looked good. We just didn't have a lot of time to get into a lot of homes. We just continue on reading Susan Rice for their facility and the new building itself you would meet them at.

Sunrise of Grosse Pointe Woods is more expensive than the other place we visited. They were a smaller community and seemed to have a good staff and good amenities. It's kind of a higher-end community which makes them more expensive. The staff seemed really nice and it was a really clean place. I don't think that they're really caring for people with strokes there, so they didn't have a lot of people like my mom. I would rate them a four out of five because they're more expensive. The place seems very clean, but it's not the most handicapped for someone in a wheelchair. If someone can move independently it's fine, but for someone who is dependent upon a wheelchair, it won't be easy for them to get around the community.

Sunrise of Grosse Pointe Woods was very nice, and we liked it a lot. We would have probably chosen it, but another place was closer to where I live. It seemed like a very friendly group of people there, and it was very homey. The staff was wonderful. It seemed like they had multiple activities, like cards, outings, tea, games, and exercises. It seemed like a very active place. If it was closer, I would have probably picked it for Mom.

My father-in-law settled on Sunrise of Grosse Pointe Woods. It’s a lively community where they converse properly and well. He has a one-bedroom efficiency apartment with a small kitchenette and a 6x8 ft bathroom with a tub, shower, sink, and commode nicely furnished with safety handles and the accommodations for caregiving. The dining room is like a restaurant with table cloths, and the food is nicely done. The food can get bland and ordinary for the residents, but as a guest, it’s very satisfactory. They could either lower the price or raise the service level because once, my wife and I visited and we were annoyed because it took half an hour for anybody to respond to my father-in-law’s buzzer ringing. They were not attentive enough.

I did not like Sunrise at Grosse Pointe Woods when I visited the facility. I thought it was more of a dorm setting. The facility is very clean, but it was just not something I would think my mother would like. I didnÕt like the apartment because it was a different type of setting. They were spacious but they werenÕt like apartments. They were more like a dorm room.

Sunrise Grosse Point is very high-end. It's not something that an everyday person will be able to afford. It's one of those places where you got to have enough money. Everything is under one roof. You can advance from an assisted living to a full-time nursing care in your own apartment.

I think that Sunrise is an excellent facility. They seem to treat all the residents well and with respect. The staff is friendly and it seems that they are comfortable handling the residents who are not as aware about what is going on. One issue I have been made aware of is that residents might not necessarily get enough one-on-one time with caregivers. I heard that a few workers are lazy and so put their work(/residents) on other workers who are supposed to be giving other residents one-on-one attention. Also, they may not all get enough exercise if they have no one to visit and walk with them. Overall, though, (and especially if a resident has family members looking out for them and making requests on his or her behalf) I think Sunrise is a good place. My grandmother seems to be very happy there. The facility itself is also quite nice; it almost has the appearance of a hotel. There are nice gardens where families can go to chat. They also have entertainment sometimes as well as events for family to visit. I hope I never in my life have to live in assisted living home, but if that ever became necessary I don't think I would mind Sunrise.

My mother has been living at Sunrise at Grosse Pointe Woods nursing home for the past 5 years. My mother had started experiencing the symptoms of early-onset (65) Alzheimer's disease. My mother had always been such a mentally vibrant individual, so the idea of her mind eroding away was terrifying for her and for me!We looked at other assisted living facilities that were on par or even a little nicer than Sunrise in terms of accommodations and grounds, but the real selling point for us was their specialized care programs for individuals suffering from memory loss and mild to advanced Alzheimer's symptoms. It was important to us to find a care facility that could care for mother at the different stages of her illness. Because we did not know how quickly her condition would deteriorate, we didn't want to put her in one facility only to have to move her a year and half later because her needs could no longer be met.The staff have been so supportive and attentive to both me and my mother. They have done a wonderful job at preserving those parts of mother's life that were most important to her even though she can no longer remember why they are important. Their sensory stimulation environments and individualized care is just fantastic.
