My dad moved into American House Village of Rochester Hills. So far, it's been pretty good. The thing that I like the most is the attention to their residents. They seem to actually stay connected. They look out for their needs and follow up with any situations that arise. They seem to be pretty well connected with their residents. They have a pretty good meal program. It is three meals a day. So far, the food that I experienced has been pretty good. They do keep their residents engaged with lots of activities, like the Wii games and other other things that are available. The property is well-maintained and upkeep is very good. They do have good activities, but I believe they could possibly add a few more things.

I lived in one of the villas for a year and a half. There were constant problems with the unit - refrigerator not working within days of moving in, toilet constantly backing up, ceiling leak, air conditioner broke, sink leaking, thin carpet on concrete slab with no padding, wet spots on carpet after rain coming up through concrete slab, sidewalk flooding when it rained, smell when furnace running. Don't be fooled by the flowers out front! Lease states it is a non-smoking campus - this is not true! I would not recommend this facility! It is way overpriced for the poor condition of these units!

My wife and I will be moving into American House The Village. We liked the layout, the food, the friendliness of the people we met, and the price was good. Their staff, Kim, did a very nice job, we liked her. Tim, the maintenance man, did some extra things for me, and I appreciate it. The food was good. We saw several people doing puzzles, playing games, eating, and shopping. We had the choice of several rooms, and we took the one that was laid out the best for our needs. They're all about the same; in every place we visited, it's all about the same size. It's a challenge for us, downsizing.

My mother is going to stay with American House The Village and we're gonna move her into memory care there. We were able to work out a deal with them. She's already in the independent living there. They've got a program for people aging out into different care facilities. They were able to give us a deal since we've been with them for like six years. The residents were all very helpful. They all kind of worked together and the staff was really pleasant to work with, too, and they still are. A lot of them I'll be working with also when she transitions over. The staff has been really good to work with and the residents at the independent living have been pretty good to have around for support. In the independent living, it's got a full-on breakfast, that's like a continental breakfast, and then they do a full-on lunch. That was part of the package for the independent living. You could purchase other stuff, too. They do cleaning for the rooms and they have a medical team, but that's all an additional cost. You can get different care through the medical team. They do the sheets and the linens and they clean their apartments. That was a little bit rough during COVID though. Everything got a little messed up there for a little while. They have a salon and a patio outside. They did a pretty good job with the food, especially with her circumstances. The dining area is really clean. They offer two different options for each day and they have a small menu of different things that they will make for you every day, like grilled cheese or hamburgers. They have some basic stuff they'll do every day, but there are usually two different meals you can choose from. It's really clean and super nice. That was one of the reasons why I chose it over some of the other places. Once COVID hit, activities kind of got canceled, and it's been hard coming back from that. They're just now really starting to do some of the activities. They used to have a choir. My mom sang in the choir and there's a lot of other stuff they did, but they're just slowly starting to get back to that right now. It's a very nice place for the money.

I went to American House, and they have both independent living and assisted living. It was good, it was less expensive, but the building was older. The staff was good, informative, and helpful. They had several different layouts for the rooms, the dining area was OK, but the layout was odd, it was not a separate area, but was in the center. They offered limited activities compared to the others, and they didn't have as many activity rooms.

My sister chose American House The Village because of the price, and because they have 24-hour medical care available. All the staff members that we dealt with there were cooperative, pleasant, and friendly. The meals have to be ordered a day ahead of time, and they aren't the best quality. The place is very clean, and they have other levels of care available in the same building in case she needs it in the future.

I have a friend that lived in American House. They have assisted living, independent living, and a section almost like a nursing home. The apartments were lovely. She had a 2-bedroom apartment, and it was very, very nice. It was well appointed. She did not care for the food. They were very stingy with the food. They did a lot of day trips. They took people to grocery stores and stuff like that. They had a lot of activities if the people chose to go to them.

American House - The Village was much nicer than other places. I visited three, and this would be my number two choice. I wouldn't mind having my parents stay there. The buildings were very nice. They took us around and showed us one room that would be available. They put fresh carpet in, and everything is repainted every time a tenant moves out and a new one comes in. It was very nice. I'd give them four stars only because they were a little broken up/spaced out. They were in a different type of community; I wouldn't say it was bad, but they had completely different buildings in different places, and so I don't know if everything was available in that building or if they had to go to another building. They even had houses there.
