You'll need to stay with your loved one 24/7 to make sure they get the care they need. Otherwise don't send them to Hazel Finley, unless they really don't know or care where they are at.

My mother-in-law was in Hazel Findlay Country Manor for rehab. It was near where she lived. It was a typical nursing home with a hospital setting. They had semi-private and private rooms. They didn't have a lot of activities, but they did have Bingo, cards, and occasionally outings. They had a huge dining room setting. The staff was good and very attentive to her.

Have had some really good staff and some really bad staff. I was standing there waiting patiently at the front desk as two nurse's were talking about there every day lives. Never once stopped to ask if I needed help after looking at me numerous times. Mother in laws light was on over 10 minutes and finally answered she almost went to bathroom in her pants. Meals are not set up for people who are diabetic which is really sad for that big of a facility. The facility was clean when walking in the door but changed my mother in laws bedding once a week. She asked to get her hair washed and the nurse's said ok I will get to it she kept reminding the nurses. She finally had family take her to a hair place to get it washed. Not right. Meds were passed late a lot too. Really wish head staff or nurse's watch there floors a lot better than what I have seen. Its close to home that's why we went there. Really hope you watch your staff a lot better and how residents are taken care of.

Some of the wings are outdated and don't have proper a.c. in the rooms. They don't have sufficient space for rehab patients. Those patients don't get the attention they require.

My mother was there about six months ago for about 4 months all together. Her saying was "if you have to be somewhere, it might as well be here!" She loved the large varity of activities daily, there seemed to always be something different to do (not just bingo and cards, although they did that too :)) all throughout the day. The gal's who ran the activities were very creative and kind with the residents, We were even able to attend mass in the building which was extremely helpful for mom. The physical therapy program she was on got her right up on her feet again and the staff that worked her hall were very nice, and did everything they could to make her feel at home. The room was quite large, and there were no visiting hours, which worked well with my families busy schedule. We still go back and visit when we are able. I cant say enought about this amazing place! I recomend this facility to everyone I know!

I chose Hazel Findlay because of the proximity to our house and the availability of continuing rehabilitation. Everything was fine, we didn't have any problems. They took good care of my father, he was well fed. He was in a room. But after the time that he was there, his mental competency lessened. It would have been nice if there was someone he could have talked to. I would recommend it to others.

The staff is very kind but the entire nursing home feels too much like a hospital. All the beds look like hospital beds there isn't really a lot of ways to customize the patients rooms and the recreational areas are very sterile looking. I wish they would add a homey feel to the place because most of the people there will never get to go home again. The assisted living facility that my sister works at, however, has nice apartments for each person to live in and a recreational area that doesn't look like a hospital. The place reminds me more of college dorm rooms then an assisted living space.

After my grandfather had a stroke, he and my grandmother with Alzheimer's disease were unable to live on their own anymore and had to move into a nursing home. Overall the facility is alright, they have the same schedule everyday but there are special events sometimes such as a recent performance by a local high school singer. The food is not the best, but that is to be expected. Everyday they are fed at the same time and have a nap time everyday as well. A few months ago, a bug went around and the facility was "quarantined" for about a week until the infected had recovered. The staff are great for the most part, with some being better than others. Several nurses are great, very attentive and willing to go the extra mile. Overall they are well taken care of but the day-to-day life seems a bit monotonous for them.
