We toured Brookdale Delta. What I like the best was that the caregivers never walked by any of the people that lived there without addressing them like saying, 'Hi, how are you doing? Well, hello, I'm glad you're coming out,' like they were part of a family. I love the fact that my mom can go to the kitchen there. My mom likes boiled eggs and cooked prunes, and with supervision, she could go in there and still do all of those, cook her eggs and cook her prunes, so it still keeps her going a little bit. The community was very clean and smelled good. The lady that gave us our tour was very, very nice. It's a little too far from me because I live in Mason. What I like least about it is their shared bathroom. Their rooms have to share a bathroom. My mom is very particular, so what would make it perfect is if they have their own bathroom, but it's not something that would deter me from putting my mom there. I didn't do a meal there, but they said that they would accommodate people with their independent meal choices and have the things that they like there. I like the fact that my mom could still be part of making her own meals so that she keeps herself moving and going, and her mind sharp and all that stuff. They showed me their activities calendar. They had game time. The rooms were a nice size. They had their own windows, which was nice. The room was large enough to where my mom could put her bed. They were willing to let her bring her bed in, which was nice. There's room for her special hutch, a room for a small dresser, and a room for her chair in the corner. I was surprised just how roomy it was. I love everything about it except it's too far away.

Brookdale Delta's places for people to stay reminds me of a hotel room. You just walk in there, and there's only room for a bed. When I walked in there, it didn't have any warmth to it at all. It just seemed like a very cold, barren place. I saw maybe one person, and he looked sad and his head was hanging. The man that I talked to was really nice. The only staff that I met was a nurse. She seemed accommodating, but we wouldn't have needed that. She was available to answer our questions. The layout of the place, and the outside looked very nice. They've got colorful flowers and little gardens. To me, the inside is just very cold and un-inviting. The upkeep was probably good. You know, the outside look better than the inside.

My mother is at Brookdale Delta. Their food leaves a lot to be desired. The majority of the residents don't like the food. They need more caregivers. My mother's room is fine and small but fits her needs. They keep it clean. My mother participates in bingo. They also have different outings to different restaurants and maybe museums. It's very expensive for the care that they are able to provide with their limited staff.

I didn’t like the room at Brookdale (Brookdale Delta). They didn’t have a double room, just a room with a door in the middle, so you could have two rooms, but they’re identical rooms just near of each other. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, I didn’t think the room was up-to-par for two people. I don’t think having essentially two little studio apartments with a door in the middle is convenient for two elderly people.

I liked Brookdale Delta. It was very open, accommodating, very clean, and very friendly, but it was more assisted living. It was a very nice facility, but it was not what we needed for my mother at that point in time.

Brookdale Delta was very nice. It only had 20 beds, so it was smaller. It was just pricey. They had bingo and exercises. It seemed very homey. The staff was very friendly and kind. The apartments were nice.

We're going with Sterling House. What drew us to the Sterling House was that there are only 19 residents there, so it's more of a homey, intimate atmosphere. Then the special for the month was that it was an all-inclusive base price, so as long as mom is there, she's locked in to that base price which is a very good deal. Plus, they have a good reputation. Nurses and doctors that we talked to that had visited the facility really like it, so we knew we were in the right direction. They're highly regarded. The dementia and Alzheimer's is in a building next door, so they have 2 buildings there. We're happy with it because it's in her vicinity where she has always lived. That was another big issue.

We liked the facility and the staff at Sterling Place. Everything was pretty good and it is on the top of our list. What stood out was the location, the layout of the facility and the rooms.

The staff at Sterling House of Delta were very welcoming, knowledgeable, lively, sociable and they answered all the questions. The rooms had a little cubby that had a cupboard, a place for a microwave and a refrigerator. So that was an advantage to the other facility I visited. They also had a lot of activities for the residents.

This place is horrible the employees are so unprofessional, not cheerful, can't do so many things.
