Fox Run's rooms were excellent. They have over a hundred different activities, a large swimming pool, and an exercise center. They have independent living, assisted living, and a care center. It's a very large place, and they're still building. The staff is very friendly and excellent, and they give very good service. They had several different dining areas, and they had some fantastic food offerings. They had a menu at night, and they cooked their food to order. There was everything from filet mignon to scallops. They probably had 35 or 40 different choices for different choices for different things for dinner at night, and the food choices were just super. They hire really good cooks so I was amazed with the menus, and it's really good. The activities they offer are good. It's just a really great place.

The people at Fox Run were nice but leaned more toward the wealthier side of retirement. They had a lot to offer. Everything was excellent. The staff was very nice, polite, and attentive. They were the Ford Lincoln or Cadillac of retirement centers. They did a nice job and were very active. I would suggest they bring down their cost.

It's 2 miles from my house, and it's one of the ones where you have a big upfront fee, but they take care of you the rest of your life. The community that they created was a huge relief. My mother-in-law had become very isolated in her house, and this place has something of everything. They have everything she needed, and someone's going to keep an eye on her. She will have a one-bedroom apartment. They have a café for breakfast and lunches where you can get a pizza or a sandwich, and then they have a beautiful dining room as well. I did not eat there, but from talking with everyone, the food was just phenomenal. She has Parkinson's, and they have support groups to help her adapt with the complications that go with it. They have a pool, which she is excited about because she has arthritis in her hip. They have a Bridge club, book club, and volunteer groups. I call it a dorm for seniors. The people are very happy and seem very active. We did not have any bad experience with Fox Run.

This is a skilled nursing facility that's part of a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). I've had clients there and know it well. The skilled nursing unit is part of a big campus of independent living and care facilities--about 30 or 35 miles northwest of Detroit city center. The facility itself is nice, fairly new, with wide hallways and lots of windows. It has a bright, open, airy feeling. The rooms are a good size, and there are usually two to a room. The staff is accommodating, welcoming, and well trained. About the only real downside is the food. It's institutional: bland fare--cottage cheese, jello, that kind of thing. But overall, this facility is one of the the top choices for skilled nursing in the area. And because it's part of a CCRC, it's convenient for residents who suddenly find themselves in need of skilled nursing care.
