Do not put a loved one in this facility that can not speak up and/or take care of themselves. Our experience with Belmar in August 2020 started off well, beautiful place, close to our home, told us they could meet all my brother's needs, etc. We found out after signing the paperwork, this facility is not properly staffed to take care of hospice or terminally ill residents. On the weekends there is no supervisor or office staff available. Calls were unanswered and messages not returned. I visited my brother (who had stage 4 lung and brain cancer) after I received a call from a concerned nurse. When I got to Belmar, I found him on the floor of his room badly bruised. Bruises and scrapes all over his face, head and hands. The room was filthy, smelled and dirty dishes were everywhere. There were only 3 caretakers/staff in the facility that Sunday and I found out a Belmar resident was missing that day from the facility. We moved my brother as quickly as possible out of Belmar. Do your research. If you have loved ones in hospice care, I highly recommend calling hospice centers for recommendations.

On admission the administration was very accommodating. But accommodation comes to a screeching halt when your family member dies on their watch. Texts and messages go unanswered. Inquiries about possible reimbursement of rent/fees for lost days were met with a cold “no refunds for the first month” $8500 paid. He was there for a total of 8 days. Unbelievable. If you think this facility cares about its residents or family members, think again. I will share my story with any and all who will listen. Lots of options available out there. I suggest you choose another.

Belmar exceeded my expectations in caring for my mother. I recommend Belmar to anyone looking for the best in senior living.

Beautiful place but don’t judge a book by its cover. The current management doesn’t care at all about the residents. The executive Director is clueless and they’re never staffed appropriately. I wouldn’t feel safe leaving my dog here! If you are looking for a quality care community for your loved one please run in the other direction!

The community looks nice and it's new, but I wasn't thrilled with the help provided. They have a high turnover and I had a few issues with her. She had a fall and they lost the bridge of her teeth. They're supposed to have water in her room, but they don't always have it. They have activities like arts and crafts, Bingo, they have a happy hour, and there are people who come in and sing. She's on a pureed diet and they do accommodate it. It's expensive, but all these places usually are.

We’re very pleased so far. Everything is going well, and they seemed to be attentive to their patients. The number of patients is smaller than other places, which is a good thing. We love the fact that we pay a flat fee instead of getting charged for everything dad needs. Dispersing medication is a big thing for us, and that’s a part of every one of Windemere’s levels of care.
My brother has eaten there, and he said the food is pretty good. The place itself is very nice, new, and clean. My only comment is it’s on a slab, so the temperature gets a little off-kilter at times. They have activities for the residents. The reason we selected this community was because of its all-inclusive pricing

The visit was good. It’s a very new facility. It will be a year old sometime in the spring, and I was very happy with the calls back and the direction provided, and my mom has moved in. My mom is getting the kind of care that I expected. They are very receptive, and it’s a very clean facility. The ratio of nurse or caregiver to resident is not by number; it’s by need -- which is a big difference. When you based the amount of caregivers based on their needs, you get the right care. My mom told me yesterday that she has gained 8 pounds, and she loves the food. There’s a private bath and a spiritual person that comes in once a week per service. If you’re assisted versus memory care, you can walk out into an enclosed outdoor porch area so you don’t need somebody to walk you out there or want to sit with you; you can just open the door and be on a confined but secure area where you can get fresh air, and they have a bus that takes the residents to the grocery store or bingo, and lastly they have a beauty shop on site where she can get her nails and hair done.

The community was lovely, brand new, and gorgeous. One thing I really liked about it was that everything was antibacterial, including the floors. I was late for my appointment with them and the administrator who had already left came back to accommodate me.

It is brand new. It had a totally different feel from all the places I have been to. This place was a little bit more modern. Instead of carpeted floors, it had a very nice vinyl flooring which was thick and soft but looked like wood. It didn't look like you were in a hospital. The rooms were a little more sterile and simple. They had a little fireplace and lots of feeding areas. They offered a 24-hour snack service which was really good. The menu for the day looked fancy. They told me they had two chefs on staff who worked with the residents to make sure they're meeting their nutritional needs. They had a shared room facility, and it was like being in a hospital. They were more expensive. It didn't have the homey touches but the thing I liked about it was because it was a little simpler, it still felt comfortable and it would be much easier to clean and very easy to keep clean which is important. The other thing I liked was there were nurse's stations. Imagine a very huge hallway, and there were the fireplaces and feeding areas in the middle section and walking paths on either side of that. They could have easily accommodated two hospital beds on each path. It was a key-shaped building, so one long strip with resident rooms and two separate hallways, and they also had memory care. They had at least two nurse's stations down each hallway, so you wouldn't have to look all over for someone to help you. If you walk down the hall, somebody would be very nearby to assist residents and I thought that was a really nice touch. I only met a couple of the staff, but they're very helpful and willing to go above and beyond for me. They answered questions and gave me feedback about other facilities and questions in general about what to look for when looking for assisted living. The staff made themselves available and even followed up to see if they could help with questions.
