Our tour experience with My Doctors Inn was just as nice as the others. It was a big facility with tall ceilings. They were setting up for a Christmas party in this big atrium and they allowed the memory care residents to come down and join them. The memory care was inside the assisted living facility, so you walk through some corridors, which was kind of confusing to me. It's a locked unit with people 24 hours coming and going. They give you the code to the place and you're allowed to come and go as you please 24 hours a day, which would be great for me as I work the midnight shift and I have different hours for most people.
They did not have a wall separating their shared rooms though. They would be across from each other without any dividers. So, that might be a little disturbing if you decided on a shared room situation. It looked very clean. The room was a little bigger unit. Residents were watching TV and an aide was sitting and observing them all. The person I had the interview with was approached by several of the very confused residents and she handled their questions and situations very compassionately. She was very nice and she's been there for ten years. She started as a receptionist, and now she's kind of running the place so she knows the ins and outs. She was very helpful, very understanding, had a lot of suggestions, and knows exactly how to get someone acclimated to the facility as a newcomer.
I could bring mom down to the assisted living to play the piano, which my mom likes to play. They had a nice area outside that during nice weather you could go out to and sit out on the patio. They had a hairdresser station, a podiatrist that would come, and an in-house doctor. They would have your laundry done, provide you with three meals a day, snacks, and pretty similar to what the other memory care unit had. Everyone looked peaceful and taken care of.

My father-in-law has moved into My Doctor's Inn. They have individual studio apartments, and they check on the patients every two hours when the family is not there. My father-in-law is saying the food is excellent and plenty of it to eat. He's only been there three weeks, so at this point, everything has been very positive. The interaction with the staff is very good. They're very helpful. They're answering all our questions. They're following up with phone calls. Everything is good.
They do say they have activities and everything. My father-in-law has not partaken in any of those yet except for the meals. The other residents are very friendly. They have movie nights, they have a beautiful outdoor patio, which obviously in Michigan we're not using yet, and they have gatherings or socials. They have a very nice area that we can escort my father-in-law to take part in. It looks like a New York sidewalk cafe area. It's all indoors, but they have a movie theater, a library, a barbershop area, and beautiful patios.
