Amazing considerate and understanding staff.

Tendercare is a small nursing home that caters to the resident. Rooms are available with two residents. It is a home like setting. The staff go to great pains to insure that each resident does all that they are able to do for themselves. They are always there to help if needed. They have a wonderful recreation program designed to involve any resident that has the ability or desire. They offer bingo games, Group TV watching, Cards etc. There are ample opportunities to socialize if it is desired. When the patient gets to the point where they no longer wish to do so they are made comfortable in their room. Overall a care home is a hard place to put a loved one but I think that when you find a place like tendercare you can feel a measure of peace with the decision.

I have a mediocre expectation when it comes to assisted living facilities in general.Tender care of Alpena, Michigan did little to to change my thoughts regarding them. As an expensive but necessary option for the well being of my father, we chose Tendercare over other area facilities due to its cleanliness and location. It also accepted state Medicaid insurance as payment for services due to financial hardships. The nursing care. administered seemed all but inadequate and patient to caregiver ratios were as expected, very low! There are no amenities and most residents will rely upon volunteers or visitors only for comfort and companionship as the caregivers are way overworked and busy. If there had been other reliable sources for his care, we would've chosen to place him elsewhere. Unfortunately, the Alpena area is small town USA and choices aren't abundant or available there for many residents. I won't recommend using this facility, but I have seen worse. I have also seen way better outside of the immediate area!
