We visited Sunnybrook in Brunswick. It was very pleasant. We saw a choir practice going on. They have a lot going on, and it's a nice size. They said they have farm to table, and they could do gluten free. They had some apartments that did not have carpeting, which would have been good for my friend. The problem with it for both of us was for some reason, we're both somewhat chemically sensitive; it bothered both of us. It's an outstanding place, but it just wouldn't work for my friend.
They have a walking club, bingo, bocce, lecture series, exercise classes like chair yoga and weights, happy hours, parties, housekeeping, laundry, and three meals a day. They said they could do gluten free. You can pay extra for personal care.

I found Sunnybrook Senior Living to be very inviting, it's a nice facility and it's bright. The prices are reasonable and we wanted dad to go there, that's our first choice. They were very accommodating as far as what our needs were. They were going to let my dad live there, but if he wanted to leave and be home for a few days at a time, they were very willing to work with us. And they were recommended by my aunt and her friends. She had friends there that enjoyed it, and so we felt very comfortable with it. We were trying to get my dad to go for lunch to try their meals, but he just doesn't want to.

I wasn't pleased with Sunnybrook at all. It was kind of blah. It was small. They had a little pond out back, but that didn't matter much. The building was fairly new, it just didn't feel homey. I had lunch there and I wasn't happy with the food. The dining area reminded me of a cafeteria. They have an exercise room, an entertainment room, and small unit apartments.

Sunnybrook was our first choice for Mom because it had everything from mild dementia to independent living units. However, the room wasn't ready and was currently being renovated. They had a hair salon. The visit was fine, but the follow-through wasn't. It was a small, intimate facility, it seemed clean, and it had a homey feel to it.

I was impressed with Sunnybrook Village. What I liked most about it is the fact that it's assisted and residential all in one. You can live in an apartment, but come the time that you'd need assistance, you don't have to move. You can stay where you are, and they just change your care. The studios are good-sized -- not small at all -- and they're very clean and modern. The person who assisted me was wonderful. They have everything you can think of there, they take trips out of town if they want to go, and they try to serve them with local food from the community whenever possible. They have the local college students come in and play music. The dining area was gorgeous, and it overlooked the river. It was beautiful.

We had a wonderful experience at Sunnybrook Village. They were very informative. We saw the schedule of their activities and it looked like they keep them pretty busy. There's a lot to do there. We saw the entire facility and thought it was quite nice. It seemed to have everything that you would need.

The rooms here at Sunnybrook Village are really nice. The staff is nice. It is clean and doesn't seem like a hospital. The residents have more privacy. The care is a little bit on a higher scale. I didn't see an activity program, but I did observe that the residents are more independent. They are doing their own thing. A lot of them have their own vehicles. I think the residents here truly have more dignity.
