My mom moved into Manokin Manor. So far, the people we've met have been nice and guided me through the financial process. The moving-in process is OK. My mom has a roommate and a shared living space. The room has two beds with curtains to separate them. The bathroom is shared with the room on the other side, so there are four residents for one bathroom. They had a dedicated dementia ward. They have a cafeteria and a gathering area where residents can sit and socialize.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience here. Today (10/24)I dropped off medicine for a family member who is a patient at Manokin. When I found out she never received it, I called and was transferred to the Beckford area. The person on the phone was extremely rude from the moment she began to speak. She was very sarcastic and accusatory. She stated that I was not to drop of this type of item, it was against their policy, and that they kept the item. I asked her why would they have not told me this when I dropped it off? She said oh “well they didn’t know and what do you want me to do”. I said well I would like my stuff back. I told her that her attitude was very nasty and that I would like her name. She refused to identify herself and hung up. When I called back the person answering the main line said she wasn’t sure who was working there and that there were alarms going off. Extremely disappointed in the way I was dealt with!!

The staff at Manokin Manor is awful. I have been in there many times before, they did some renovations too, and some of the things they've done for the assisted living units looks nice. However, I wouldn't leave my dog in their care, because the staff is inattentive, and not friendly. I changed hands over the years and it seems to have gotten worse and worse. They seem to be struggling finding staff members that are compassionate. It doesn't have a lot of amenities, but people come in and do things for the residents. The place itself is OK, but the previous owners let the roof leak and things like that.

My dad is a disabled veteran, and Manokin Manor is 100% covered by the VA. It didn't start out good, and I wasn't really happy at the beginning. But it actually has improved quite a bit. The staff is okay and they have activities for the residents. The building itself has improved, too. They're in the process of making renovations. They still have quite a long way to go, but they're trying to improve it. Dad also has dementia. He has been there a little over a year.
