After three weeks of flu/pneumonia in hospital, my elderly mother arrived hoping to build strength and confidence.
Note that she has short term memory loss and cognitively functions well.
The staff seem pleasant and friendly, but the quality of REAL care is sorely lacking, with the exception of PT/OT (which take a small share of the resident's time).
Sadly, not much happened the first ten days. While I understand the need to assess a new patient and devise a customized program, she was left in bed, not knowing where she was or why she was there.
All staff should know how to use simple re-orientation techniques when delivering meals, helping with toilet duties etc... to help residents who have memory loss remember where they are and why they are there. The absence of this is unacceptable and caused unnecessary anxiety.
In the first week, I received two calls: one from the OT and one from the speech therapist, which were helpful. But it took ten days before we had the "care meeting" at which the social worker introduced these professionals (who seemed excellent), but the social worker never talked about the medical or emotional issues that remain a challenge. Therefore, the meeting was not as productive as it needed to be.
Likewise, after this meeting, we did not receive an updated care plan.
Finally, the facility lists a number of services that are provided, such as a podiatrist and psychological help. Despite having asked for both, my mother has yet to have an appointment with either and she's now on her third week.
Suffice to say, I'm currently looking for other options and will move her if I find a better place.

After an unexpected life change, I found myself in the care of the Montgomery Village Health Care Center for some rehabilitation. Within 24 hours, nearly every department supervisor stopped by to welcome me, ask of my concerns, and how I should reach them for “anything”. I was well attended by the nursing staff my entire stay and the PT and OT staff put me back together with their talent, tools, and toys. A good and beneficial time. Perhaps the most comforting realization was that I felt part of the overall process and not just a product. Kind of like family. While I don’t plan on returning soon, if the need arises, I will request returning to the Montgomery Village Health Care Center. The food was good too.

My mom has been a resident at MVHCC for the past 9 years and I visted her almost everyday before the pandemic and on scheduled appointments since June this year. The management and staff alike are loving and they go to great lengths to take good care of their residents there. I am happy with the staff. I wanted to single out Rose, Devi, Catheleen for their outstanding work. Since the nursing home began to allow pre-approved visitations, I have been working with Paulette Lee to schedule my appointments and I have to say that, while strictly implementing every-evolving policies of the corporate, Paulette goes the extra mile to make sure that family and friends get to see their loved ones at convenient times. I am totally impressed with her professionalism and dedication to what she does. Overall, I am very happy with MVHCC and wanted to thank all the staff for their hard work.

Run far away from this place if you have a love one in here check on them often. They’re rude and have a unqualified staff it takes them hours to come and help your love ones When they call for help. Do not put your love ones in this place if you want them to be safe.

Rude staff that has no desire to help the patients. They do not come when called, treat the patients like they are stupid and leave them in pain and soiled for hours. If your loved is not ambulatory DO NOT leave them at this facility.

Staffs are not good, only two three doctors in this facility need more doctors and nurse practitioner. Only one doctor have lot of patients.

The living area and bathroom are full-size, comfortable, and clean. The room is large enough to accommodate family and friends.
Also, the small refrigerator keeps everything ices cold.
The food needs to be seasoned and tasteful. Some of the food is not worth taking the lid off; because most likely you will not find it appealing.
Add two full-size napkins, real silverware, clean tray (food arranged nicely), and a cold drink (don’t waste coffee all over the tray).
Breakfast: Do away with the turkey patties, turkey sausage, and scrambled eggs. Replace it with 3 slices of bacon or 3 slices of fried ham, cheese omelet (stay hot the longest) and a fresh cinnamon bun.
Do away with the cream of wheat, and oatmeal and replace it with chip beef and gravy over toast.
Lunch and Dinner: Do away with chicken noodle soup and add vegetable beef.
Salads: Add fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, real bacon bits, shredded cheese, and grilled chicken. Add a variety of dressings; such as blue cheese, ranch, and Italian dressings.
Sandwiches: Make up fresh sandwiches as ordered. Also, add enough meats so you can taste what you are eating.
The facility is very hot and can't be controlled when the outside temperature changes. The patients suffer the consequences and they are begging for air.
They should update all rooms and install an individual control to monitor their own heating and air condition.
My interactions with the staff are always pleasant.
Nikki (A+Staff Member) is very nice, caring, reliable, a great team player and could be the backbone of any team. You can count on Nikki meeting deadlines in a timely manner. When others fail, she is committed to getting the job done. She is very concerned about the daily activity the patients like to participate in. If you have a problem getting to the destination, she will accommodate you.
Nikki enjoys chatting with all the patients on each floor. She takes time out of her busy schedule to visit with the patients to find out how they are feeling and what they need to make them more comfortable.

My friend is in Montgomery Village Health Care Center. The daytime staff is courteous, but the evening staff is kind of rude. You don't get much assistance if you call them, but her basic needs are taken care of. Nobody goes over and beyond. Her roommate was soiled for quite some time, and they took about an hour to come and change her. If you're mobile and self-sufficient, and just need assistance and don't need full skilled nursing, you're OK to be there. She was in a private room when she was in rehab on a different floor, but when she moved to long-term care, it was shared because of her income level. They have a big community room with TV and crafts and games. Everything is average.

Unqualified staff. Do not pay attention to patients. I am surprised that they have not been shut down by Mecicare. A patient was gasping for breath and not being given oxygen instead the nurse was giving her antibiotics . Total lack of competence in nursing staff. Doctor seldom visits patient

I stayed in Montgomery Village Health Care Center. The rooms were excellent, nice, and large. The equipment was good. They did a diet for me because I was diabetic, and it worked really well because I lost a lot weight while I was there. The physical therapy was excellent, and the occupational therapy was also very good with exceedingly helpful and understanding staff. They pushed me to improve my strength, but they did not make it so hard and discouraging. They had social recreations, but I did not participate in them very much because I did not need it. I thought the staff was excellent.

I was a short term stay patient in May (cardio rehab) and December (knee replacement) of 2014. The nursing care was for the most part very good, although like any hospital you have to observe their styles and learn how best to communicate with each of your nurses. The facility itself is wonderful. The food was not what I would choose for my health, but each room has its own small fridge/freezer. The PT was extraordinary, both for my cardiovascular recovery and my knee replacement. And Dr. Casey knew exactly what do when post op swelling put me at risk of infection - and worse. I would definitely return if I ever need rehab care again.

My mother was in Montgomery Village Health Care Center before, and I wasn't happy with them at all. She was there only temporarily for several months because she had broken her ankle and I couldn't take care of her because I couldn't lift her or anything, but I visited her quite often. It's disgusting what's going on in there. Unfortunately, when I go there to visit my mother, she'd be sitting on a wet diaper. I often saw all their nurses just milling about their station, and they'd change her only when I went to them and complained. The only thing that I liked was their physical therapist because she was very good and a real gem. They told me that it was because of her Alzheimer's that she'd fall asleep in the middle of her physical therapy. But then, I found her list of medication when I brought her home and it was overwhelming. It took me a few weeks to get her off of half the stuff they had her on, and by the time I did, she was her old self again. To me, you put your dad or mom in a nursing home and only when you take them home that you'd realize the damage that's really been going on in these places. It's like they're trying to kill them or keep them quiet. They also had her on two kinds of nausea pills. The doctor who came here was horrified because he did not understand why they had to give her two different kinds of these pills everyday and he said that one of the pills had quite a few side effects. They also failed to tell me that my mom was qualified for some program. This was a program that would basically pay for a lot of her needs because she had a very low income. I'm very disappointed with the care and the information they provided. The food was horrible too. One other thing that I was very angry about was when they accidentally threw out my mother's dentures that she put on the tray because she has this habit of taking them out every time she eats. Being in a nursing home, you'd expect the staff to be very vigilant about things like these. Maybe these people are underpaid and overworked. And while their intentions may have been good at the start, they simply ended up not caring anymore because they have become immune to what's going on around them. They did buy and pay for her new set of dentures though.

Majority of staff were very caring, kind and quite competent. Room was large and nice but carpets inside room were filthy. Thank goodness there was a private fridge since I would rate the food with only one star!(Utensils were always dirty) Kitchen was repeatedly told of food dislikes but I continued to receive them day after day anyway. Physical & Occupational therapists were excellent! Their concern was geniune and they always listened to my complaints and worked with me. Had trouble with my phone the entire time but other room concerns were addressed immediately. Wi-Fi!
Resident doctor went on vacation the week of my discharge and I did not receive all of the prescriptions that I was supposed to receive. Instructions for home self-care were last minute but thorough.
