Kathy
Last week, we placed my mom at Augsburg Lutheran Assisted Living, a skilled care facility. We just thought her needs were much greater than assisted living. This way she's able to get physical therapy and occupational therapy. There's also a doctor at the facility so it's just a better fit for her.
We chose it because for one thing, we are Lutheran, so our church has a connection with the home. The ministers go and have church services there so it's like something we're familiar with anyway. They have a lot of services they're offering like physical therapy and occupational therapy. They have an activities coordinator and a doctor and a nurse practitioner on site. For a lot of those reasons, we selected it. I think it's a good value for the money so if people are considering a skilled nursing facility for a loved one, they really should consider it.
