Carroll Lutheran Village had a pretty, country setting with trees and farmland. It feels very homey; that's why we liked it. We're already familiar with the community because we have relatives and friends living there. Everybody's very friendly, and they've made a lot of improvements in the past 10 years, so it feels comfortable. Once you buy in, they take care of you for the rest of your life, even if you run out of money. A friend took us to a good lunch in their little café there. They had a pool with water aerobics, swimming, and so on. They give you a meal allowance and you can eat at either one of the different places, or go over and take your lunch back to your place to eat.

Carroll Lutheran Village is very good. The grounds are great. My aunt and uncle live in the independent home, and they are very pleased. They have a beautiful house overlooking the valley. It has two floors and very livable space. They like their food. They have a meal plan and a restaurant or a little cafeteria. They also have the ability to cook their own food in their own kitchen. My aunt and uncle are very happy. They are able to participate in activities, like going on trips with some of the groups that are there. I think there is a little carpentry shop that my uncle has built a few things in. I know he participates in the community garden.

There's no Internet available at Carroll Lutheran Village, and that's a deal-breaker. Outside of that, I would have been satisfied. The apartments were nice-sized and were nice. I wouldn't have had to downsize or get rid of anything just because it wouldn't fit there. I could have chosen what furniture to take with me and wouldn't have had a problem going shopping. The grounds were pretty and very nice. They had different things for people to do there, and they had a pool.

My friends are very happy at Carroll Lutheran Village. They have an individual cottage as a husband and wife. They have a two-bedroom and a den, so it is quite spacious. There are lots of lights. It is close to the facilities -- i.e., dining hall, gym, etc. We had lunch there, and the food was fine.

We visited Carroll Lutheran Village three times. The reason we visited so much was because first they would give you a tour of the whole complex and a lunch. The second time we went, they had a real estate sales person available, and they told us how to prepare your house for sale, what the houses were selling for in the neighborhood, and they would give you a tip. The third time we visited was about finances, and they had a financial consultant there.
The place is gorgeous. They had houses that you could buy, they had apartments, they had assisted living, and they had a hospital. The staff that we met was very congenial, and any question that you asked, they answered it spot on. As for the rooms, they had an older section and they had a newer section. My husband hated the older section. It was too dark and dreary. However, they had new apartment building that was gorgeous. The layout was beautiful, and you would just love living in the houses. The sanitation was excellent.
The food was very good. They had a regular dining room, and they had a pub and grill. We ate in the pub and grill once, and we also ate in the dining room. They served a meal in the dining room for us to look at the place, and that was exceptional. However, the pub and grill food was just as good.

Carroll Lutheran was not far from where my son lived. We did not eat a meal there. Our hostess was very helpful, friendly and gracious. Everything was positive there. We did see one room, and it was very modern and well maintained.
