I toured Riderwood Senior Living. It was wonderful, excellent. The staff was excellent. I enjoyed everything. They have nice two-bedroom apartments with patios and one-bedroom apartments. They have everything you need from one extreme to the other. They have swimming, they have all kinds of clubs. They got 100 acres of walking trails. They have everything.

My aunt's a resident of Riderwood. She had put the money down so that she could go to a more intensive setting within Riderwood as she became older and wasn't able to do things.
I didn't have much contact with her until her passing. I spoke to her on the phone, and she never complained about anything. I just visited there after she passed away because I had to help folks clear out her personal belongings.
It was nice, there were no problems. Their outdoors was gorgeous, and the room was very nice. Her apartment was spacious. I saw the dining area, and I saw a swimming pool. They had different activities, like field trips, and things of that nature. Also, the residents were allowed to keep pets, I saw folks walking their dogs. If you have the money to afford it, it is very nice. It's expensive to live there. The deposit my aunt had to put down was more than $260,000, plus she paid her monthly rent.

We like Riderwood because it was close and convenient. They have stuff for the residents to do. And even though my father is in independent living now, they also have assisted living and they have a nursing home on site. The food is good, they give out one meal a day, and they have a lot of restaurants. They have a yard, a salon, and game rooms. They have everything.

I have found Riderwood for my sister. It was nearby, it was reasonably priced, and it was a very active, happy group of residents. I only met some staff, but they were very good. My sister's church is there. They have banking. They have pharmacy deliveries. They have everything she needs. They have a salon, quite a few doctors on site, a gymnasium, pickleball courts, and a swimming pool.

My friend lives in Riderwood. It is a wonderful place. It's very nicely run, diverse, and friendly. The staff is very helpful and very knowledgeable. The food is very good. It's a very clean facility and they have lots of activities. I would recommend them.

We have chosen Riderwood for my parents. We liked that it's all-inclusive. If they end up needing more specialized care, there's other specialized care right there in the community, so they can do a stepping stone from independent living to assisted living to nursing care.
It's very clean. Everybody's very friendly, open, and welcoming. There're numerous restaurants or eating facilities within the community. Everything in the community is connected via a covered walkway. So, if you live in one community, you can easily walk inside during bad weather to another community, or you can go outside via the sidewalks if you choose to do. They also have two shuttles that run constantly during the day to take you if you'd rather not walk.
We did eat one meal there, and it was very good. It covered from appetizers through dessert and multiple choices. So, for the ease of not having to cook it themselves, I would rate it high. The facility is beautiful, very well-kept, very clean, and organized. They decorate for different seasons.

I went to Riderwood to visit a friend there, and he speaks greatly about it. Everything was very positive. The people were very pleasant, and the grounds beautiful. I would have stayed right there, but I'm not ready. There's lots of other things I have to do before moving there.
They invited us for lunch. The food was really the way I like it: very fresh, very well prepared, and not with greasy sauces and cheese. It was really good, and the people looked very nice. I definitely liked everything that I saw.
The only location in there is the place where my other friend lives. It was the only inconvenient thing, and that thing could not be resolved easily. I really enjoyed it. It seemed that there were enough activities for people to feel busy and not feel lonely. There will be people keeping an eye on you. I enjoyed what I saw on that first visit. I really like it a lot.
The staff was a very pleasant lady. I think they really are trying to serve the community of people that need something like that. The grounds were perfect, very nice, and very pleasant. The apartment they showed me was being prepared for somebody to buy. It was really very comfortable, very cheerful, and everything looked very nice.

I saw independent living apartments at Riderwood. That is a huge place. It probably has 1,000 people in it at least. It's one of those where you buy into it and then pay monthly rent in it. They take care of you for the rest of your life. They have all the different levels of care. They have pretty much everything. They have 200 different social groups of anything you're possibly interested in, and all sorts of gyms, pool, libraries, and post offices. They've got just about everything there. It was very interesting. It was a beautiful place.

My grandmother has been a resident of Riderwood for a decade. Since she first arrived the quality has gone steadily down hill. The food used to be good-very good, now it is frequently borderline inedible. Staff is generally disinterested in the needs of residents and they are routinely pressuring residents into donating money to the “Staff Appreciation Fund”. This seems like a scam to take advantage of elderly residents, who already pay a great deal of money for the pleasure of living there.
Last, but not least: my grandmother’s building has had a mouse infestation for the past year. They come in through the vents and under the door. My grandmother’s apartment is spotless, and she works hard to keep it clean, but wakes up to mouse droppings daily! This is disgusting, and unhygienic. It is appalling that my 95 year old grandmother has to deal with this! So disappointed.

The person we dealt with at Riderwood Senior Living Community was very knowledgeable, followed up, and took us on a tour. We're very pleased with the reception that we got, the information they provided, the ability to go to different buildings, and it's all inside so you don't have to go outside if the weather is cold and things like that. There's a way to go all the way around this place inside. They have a bunch of different restaurants and different places you can go like banks, they have different services, like a store, salon, church services, and lots of different things. We really wanted to get my mother-in-law there, but depending on what size of room you have in independent living, there's a buy-in. The buy in is about $190,000 to 300,000. You're supposed to get 90% VAT on the death of the occupant. So you have this big buy-in, but the cost of the accommodations is relatively inexpensive, probably at $2,000 to 3,000 a month. But the problem is when you look at the care plan and you need care it goes up very quickly. The memory care area goes up pretty substantially, too. I'm pretty impressed with their facilities, they were building a pool area. The only downside is the parking, it's a challenge for visitors who come.

Facility is slow to resolve problems, if not a all. Raw sewage has been backing up periodically into my kitchen sink for months. Maintenance says it can't be resolved due to a sewer system design problem. Very dangerous health problem. You would think they would give me another apartment. Food quality in the restaurant fluctuates also. Sometimes not worth eating. It is an okay place if you fix your own food.

I've decided to go to Riderwood and put down a deposit. I have a number of friends who live there who are very satisfied. They have long corridors, so it's a long walk to the dining room but that's good exercise. The people are very friendly and say hello when you meet them in the hall. The grounds are kept very well. They really look out for the residents. From what my friends have told me, I think it would be a very good fit for me. The sales rep was very helpful, answered all my questions, and followed up. I've been very satisfied with the way they handled the whole thing. There's an art studio, music room, physical fitness, library, and all kinds of clubs. It's a very active community.

Riderwood was very nice and very clean, but it was too far away from my circle of friends. The staff was very pleasant. The place was pleasantly designed with quite a bit of land around it. It has trails and gyms. The food was very good too. They had very nice views, and the rooms were very nice.

Riderwood was a pretty nice community. You could get a two-bedroom or a one-bedroom depending on what your income would allow you to do. The dining area was nice, and the food was very good. The staff was very nice. When you go there, they remodel the room and put in a new stove and a new refrigerator, so everything would be new, like moving into a new place. They had bingo, offered trips to different places, and have dancing. The people who I know live there said they really enjoy being there. They have a room with equipment in it like bicycles and different things. If you could no longer live in the independent part, you could move into their assisted living. It was well maintained. In the wintertime if you don't care to go outside, you don't have to because they have stores in there and you could just walk through this long hallway and see outside. They had a grocery store and a store where you could buy little trinkets. It had everything.

We were impressed by the size of the apartments at Riderwood. It had a very pleasant environment. There was greenery, and there were trees. The staff was very pleasant. I would recommend it to others.

Riderwood was my first choice. It's a big community, and they have a lot of things going on. The people were really nice. I ate there, and the food was great. They do have a lot of activities. They have a church you can go to. You get one meal a day at their independent living. The room I looked at that I was willing to take if I had enough money was considered a studio, and it had good windows which overlooks the lake. They also have a full kitchen and separate areas for the living room and the bedroom. They had washers and dryers.

I can't say enough about the care at Riderwood. My mother is in a beautiful apartment and receives one meal a day. They call it "worry free retirement" and they mean it. A lightbulb goes out, mom makes a call, and they're fixing it that day! Meals are excellent, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, medical, dental and pharmacies right on campus! Very convenient.
