Right now, my father is at ManorCare Health Services-Bethesda because the other facility that we chose didn't have a spot right away, but he's supposedly gonna move over there this week. I think they're doing a good job. I'm not unhappy with them, I just decided I wanted him to be in the other facility, because the other one is kind of surrounded by more nature, wherein ManorCare is right beside on a busy road, Democracy Boulevard. It's sitting right on the highway, so it's gonna be noisy once the good weather happens and you can be outside. That's another reason why I thought, "Oh, let's just move him over since the other facility now have a space available." But I thought Manorcare Bethesda was fine. I thought they were very responsive. The staff there and all the different types of therapists met with him. Then they gave me a call and told me how the evaluation that they had of him and what they thought the kind of treatment he needs, and they did that right away. He was checked in on the 17th, and right away on the 18th, 19th and 20th, people were calling me and giving me updates, so I thought they were quite good actually. So far, I haven't encountered anybody that is unhappy. His dietician called me and asked me what food he likes and dislikes. They definitely take that into consideration when they're planning the meal.

This place “lost” our dear grandmother’s belongings and family heirlooms after she passed away. The anger we feel is unmatched. I would advise against anyone leaving their beloved family at this place.

Complete nightmare. Unclean, unhealthy, and no staff attention. Please avoid at all costs. We removed our relative within 24 hours. Every aspect of the facility is unclean and unhealthily. The floors and carpets are so filthy that they are sticky. The air is putrid and there is little ventilation. The bathroom in his room had been soiled by another patient and the mess was only cleaned after we complained about it multiple times. I’m shocked they can provide health services a facility as unclean as this. The staff is not responsive. Our relative gave up trying to call them for help, and the only way he received any attention was when we pursued staff members directly. After hours there appeared to be no staff available at all. I’ve seen this noted in other reviews as well. I guess I have to give 1 star to post a review but this objectively a zero start facility in all aspects.

This facility is ran by three individuals who have little experience in customer service and less in care delivery. Each will cover the mistakes of the other. Turn over is high in nurses and GNA Ratio as high as 20 per GNA. Our love one never knows what to expect and neither do we. Sometimes she's clean when we arrive, most evenings she found in poor condition. They was a recent injury, they did a sham investigation, covered it up, concluded it was the resident's oun fault. Management WILL retaliate on your family member and you. They don't care. The State will do inspection, and on those days, suddenly this facility will have 12 or more trainee GNAS helping out, so as to hide the chronic short staff. Be careful if you must go there, visit often or hire a nurse to check in on your love one. Management lacks credibility.

Don't let anyone you love ever go to this place. They are understaffed, poorly managed and the place is falling apart. Equipment is broken, some with tags on it showing that it should have been checked months ago. Some of the staff are very caring and competent. Others are uncaring and less than competent. You never know what kind of care you're going to receive which makes it a bad place to be. Good luck with ever having clean sheets - this only happened once in a week's stay & then I had to change them myself.. And don't believe what they say about patient to healthcare giver ratio. At night, there's one nurse for the entire floor and only two techs for the floor who say they can't do anything without the nurse's permission which is hard to get as the nurse becomes more invisible as the night goes on. With apologies to the good guys who are trying their best, I have to say that the bad outweighs the good at Bethesda Manorcare and it's a place to avoid even if you're up to do-it-yourself care.

There are two distinct levels of care at this facility. The first floor has mixture of short/long term residents, best nurses and GNA's . 2nd floor, some good nurses, and few good GNA. The facility is very short staffed, both nurses and GNA's are responsible for as many as 20 residents each. My loved on was not treated well, suffered mysterious injuries, staff promises investigations, but no results are given or conclusive. There is high turn over of senior management. Best to avoid this facility, and if you must go, then monitor frequently to ensure your loved one safety. Their food is served by an outside contractor, its horrible, served cold and generally presented poorly.

My mother was a resident for a few weeks at Manor Care on Democracy Blvd., Bethesda. It was staffed by professional, pleasant, caring and upbeat caretakers. They paid attention to details that help promote health and healing, were kind and had a positive, supportive attitude. Rooms were large, airy and clean. There was a lovely outdoor garden for residents and visitors. The food was good. We felt that this facility was a good choice and that everything worked together to help my mother regain her strength and return home.

This facility is borderline neglectful. While they do take the very most basic care of my grandmother, this care is roughly equivalent to what one might expect in a prison (a weekly shower, two or three prepackaged meals a day, a bed to sleep in, and a room mate that might hate you). This is compounded by the fact that my grandmother has very poor English skills and (due to the neglect of this facility after breaking her hip) is immobile. In order to get any care beyond what was mentioned above (and even sometimes just for that), she must call a family member who must then call the nursing home and translate the request - at which point the nurse handling the call often hangs up or transfers the call right back to my grandmother's phone before the request is even made. If my grandmother's phone has fallen off her stand or is moved out of reach of her bed, we won't find out until a day or two later when when a family member has physically checked on her - the nurses will not pick it up for her (if they've even visited her room at all).

My sister's been there for a couple of months now. The staff is very professional, and as far as the facility, it's very clean, neat, and very well organized. The people that we saw there seem to really enjoy it. We saw a lot of people sitting out and chatting, that kind of thing, very sociable. We were just really impressed. We were very pleased and they stayed in close contact with us like every three days or so before we made the decision to put her in a place up there.

Manor Care nursing home provides large rooms for residents and allows family members to decorate and make it feel like a home. There were two or three nurses who were particularly caring and respectful, getting to know my grandmother and our family. These nurses clearly chose this profession out of a love of serving others and making them comfortable. There were some other nurses who seemed far less concerned with my grandmother's comfort or emotional well being and simply did their job as quickly as possible. It was hard to watch their detachment and disregard for the pain they may have been causing my grandmother. I worried how she was treated when no one from the family was there. I never feared blatant abuse from the staff, but that they treated her more like an object than a person. The rooms were always clean and well kept. I appreciated the care from the wonderful nurses and the permission to make my grandmother's room feel like home. There was also a lovely little garden we would take our grandmother to for fresh air. Overall, I feel somewhat neutral toward Manor Care. There were some positive experiences and negative, but none so negative as to warn others to avoid the facility.
