Our overall experience with Fairland Center was not good. My father left the hospital weak and the reason why he needed rehab is to get back on his feet. He left the place no stronger than he went in. I spoke to no doctor until the day I picked him up. There was no communication. Repeated attempts to call and speak to someone went unanswered. I got the most information on the day it was time for him to check out and that's not good. The facilities were OK.

The place seemed dingy and dark. That must be a function of the design for the windows. It didn't have much opening to fill in light. We didn't pursue it after that visit because it was not attractive. It was not inviting. The feeling that you had was not open. The feeling was "I don't really want to be here". That's based only on feelings, but that's the way I felt.

My stepmother is in this facility now for about eight months. She has exceptional needs including breathing assistance and feeding tube. when she first arrived she was enrolled in various types of therapy. Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. I cannot say enough great things about the therapists and the therapy staffing. They are attentive, patient, personable and interactive. They really care about my step mom and make a point of interacting with her even when she's not scheduled for therapy. After a period of time, the insurance company determined that while she'd made improvements, they were not significant enough to continue the therapy. This meant that she needed to stay in the facility, hopefully qualifying under medicaid and would no longer get the various forms of therapy. The nursing staff is excellent. I have had loved ones in nursing facilities where the staff doesn't care bit this is NOT one of them. Every single person who comes into contact with my stepmom is pleasant, patient, accommodating, and has a great attitude. The administration went the extra mile to help us wade through the harrowing experience of applying for medicaid. they held family meetings about every three months to update us about everything concerning my stepmom and to allow us as a family to ask any questions. Usually there's be a social worker there as well. I think this is one of the best nursing homes and rehab centers I've ever encountered (and there've been more than a few. My mother was ill for 20 years and often needed nursing home/rehab care). I did my research on this facility and they got similar reviews elsewhere which informed my decision. They are also excellent for patients needing respiratory care and/or feeding tube care.
