The Highlands Gracious Retirement Living has a good activity list, and they really worked to involve all of the residents in their various activities. One of my sister's key elements is loneliness, which I think is common among elderly people, and that helped with that problem. Here, she just comes in and doesn't have to worry about her meals, her cleaning, and for a whole lot of other things. So, the whole thing has been a treat for me and for her because it's worked out well. She's safe now and she's eating a nutritious diet. Also, she's nearby, which is another thing. I've actually had dinner there, because people can do that occasionally, and the food is excellent. It's like eating at a restaurant. The facility is completely clean too. When there has been an issue with something, they get right on it to repair it. I've had some experiences watching them do that since the unit she was moving into has been redone. They did a deep cleaning, and there were a couple of minor things that needed repair, and they did that. So, apparently they do that every time a new person moves in. They have exercises of various types, movies, and social evenings where there's wine and bingo. Then they take them on excursions outside the facility. I know they have one scheduled for next month in Gloucester. So, they keep them busy, which is good. They were quite economical as well. Their pricing is very competitive. I looked at probably 20 places that are more expensive, and in my opinion, they're giving you less for the money, but you're getting your money's worth at this place.

I like almost everything about living here. My apartment is is on the 3rd floor and has a cathedral ceiling with a fan, which I love. It is close to a laundry room which is well-equipped and convenient. Staff members are available to provide assistance if needed. Exercise is offered daily. I participated in a memoir writing class, which I enjoyed. My only reservation is the food. The menu is very bland, mostly meat-and-potatoes type, whereas I prefer spicier, ethnic style dishes. I realize that most residents probably wouldn't agree with my choice.

Highlands Gracious Retirement Living is almost like a 5-star hotel and costs a lot. It is located near the medical center, so it is very easy to go to the doctor. The manager went to visit my nephew and discussed with him about the place, until he finally moved there. So far, everything has been good. They offer three meals a day, and there is a nursing center if someone needs special services. The meals are good, and the house is very bright.

My parents are moving into The Highlands Gracious for a couple of months. The atmosphere there is very inviting. It looks like you walked into a cruise ship when you walk in. Three meals a day are provided. The people that we met there were very kind, welcoming and eager to meet my parents when we went to visit. They have a lot of activities to participate in but also a lot of opportunities for independent specialization and other things. It just seemed like a great fit for my parents. They don’t provide any medical care or personal care but they contacted an agency that does that. The staff was very welcoming, very accommodating to my parents and to their individual needs. They were willing to do whatever it takes to help them feel comfortable. My parents are moving in this weekend and even in the moving in process, they have been very accommodating and helpful.

It was very positive. The staff at Highlands was very professional and very courteous. It was basically brand new looking, and it was very light and airy. It felt very comfortable inside the place, so that was the main feature.

We chose The Highlands because of the price, apartment size, and because it was brand new. The sanitation is excellent. The staff, in general, is very good. The food is improving. I'm very comfortable here. I had been looking for a place for almost 4 years, and when I came in here, I liked the layout, I liked the people. I liked the attitude, and I signed up that day.

The Highlands was a brand new facility. It was very nice. The people that I met were very nice and helpful. However, they didn't offer washer and dryer in the apartment, which was important for my mother. They also had a counter instead of a kitchen, not that she cooked but just for the look of a full kitchen.
