My mother is a resident in the memory care unit. She went in during Covid restrictions which were managed well. The personnel have been very kind and professional, consistent in their care even with staff turnover. She enjoys the view of trees and wildlife from her room and seems very comfortable there. The facility has always been clean and well monitored when I have visited, without feeling sterile. Having access to all her healthcare needs in one location has been a big benefit. I feel that the food and activities package lives up to the advertised expectations. We have had a couple administrative issues but they were resolved quickly once we found the right channels. Maplewood is not inexpensive but offers high quality care compared to some other places we looked at.

My mother moved into Maplewood recently, in difficult circumstances. The staff took everything in stride. Delmy is turning out to be exceptionally attentive and communicative. My brother and I really appreciate her messages. The views and outdoor areas give the already open common spaces a feeling of expanse. Evening movies are a big plus.

My Mother currently resides in their Memory Unit and I have to say that the care they provide is superb. The staff develops a true bond with the residents and treat them as if they were their own family. She enjoys the activities they provide, especially the painting classes and the different outings they go on. Her room is quite spacious and there is an enclosed outdoor area they can use whenever the weather permits.
With her dementia, my Mother would occasionally have outbursts or incidents where she gets extremely upset. In all cases, Delmy and her staff would calm her down and resolve her issues to her satisfaction. Their nursing staff keeps a close eye on her physical condition, and would keep us informed. Indeed, her health is better now than it has been for a while, and she has even put on weight!
We had looked into different care facilities in the area for my Mother and Maplewood was definitely the best. The administrative staff made moving in straight-forward, even though this was during COVID, and made sure all the residents were well-protected.

When my parents aged into their early 90’s they moved to an independent living community at Fox Hill Village. To their six children it appeared that they were still vibrant and active with my Dad even growing vegetables outdoors. But as they both moved into their mid-90’s, slowly and inexorably they needed more and more assistance – my Mom with dementia, and my Dad with a variety of medical issues that made independent living impossible. After a fairly extensive search our family decided to relocate my parents to MapleWood at Weston; my Mom to memory care, my Dad to assisted living and shortly thereafter to memory care - in part because of their excellent reputation. We have not been disappointed. Viewing my parents’ aging made it painfully obvious that their best days were behind them, that they were aware of that deterioration, and that awareness often led to confusion and/or frustration on their part – sometimes taken out on the staff. Despite the pandemic we were still able to have visits (albeit limited in duration) to see my parents and I always walked away with an incredible respect for the patience and respect that all the caregivers displayed even when a resident was not at their best. On one occasion when my Mom was in a particularly challenging mood I apologized to the staff to which they replied – “Oh don’t worry about it. She’s just a little confused but she’ll feel better later on. We’re used to that.” In the last few weeks of my Dad’s life our visits became more frequent and we were often visited by members of the management team as well as the caregivers to chat with my Dad as he retold the same stories from his repertoire. I’ve seen many interactions with residents (not just my parents) including front desk staff and I’ve always been impressed with the genuine care that they are providing.

My father transitioned into the Memory Care Unit with the help of the thoughtful and experienced staff. They continue to personalize his care and make changes as he changes. I can easily reach a staff member any time day or night and communicate any concerns or requests.
The food is fresh and delicious and each meal the resident is presented a menu of choices. There are many activities in the building from exercise to movies, to live entertainment.
Everything is in Maplewood, whether you want a hair cut or a doctor visit, anything can be arranged.
I am happy that my father is safe and well cared for as he navigates this next phase of his life. I know he will be medically and personally well taken care of.
