My 96-year-old mother-in-law, who has always been like a mother to me, is currently at Craneville. She entered the nursing home for rehabilitation after a fall, regained enough strength in therapy to return home, with some help, but returned to Craneville after some months. She is still a resident there. We visit our mom fairly often, and take meals with her there on holidays. We have always been welcomed, and offered any kind of assistance we could need. There is a culture of welcome, and reverence for life at Craneville.. In the couple of years that our mom has been a resident, we have never witnessed a staff person treat a resident disrespectfully. There is also a respect for individuality and achievement there. Mom, at age 95 was given serious therapy to help her get back home where she wanted to be. Now, at age 96, she is President of the Resident's Council, and helps plan and carry out activities, and helps advocate for residents who need help. In short, at Craneville, nobody is written off. Mom lost her husband, my father-in-law, quite suddenly a few weeks ago. The weather was terribly cold, and we didn't see how she could come out to a service, or to see the family without becoming ill. The Adminisration and staff at Craneville went above and beyond to help us cater a reception right in the Dining Room so that Mom could receive her family and friends in honor of her husband and our Dad without risking her health. What can I say after that? I do have some experience with a number of other facilities. Grandville is simply the best.

Craneville Place in Dalton is a nice nursing home with great caregivers. I had went to visit a grandmother of my best friend a month or two ago and she seemed very happy. The facility was clean and most of the residents had smiles on their faces and happy to see visitors. My friends grandma likes it there and says she is well taken care of which is great! It makes it a little easier sending them to a nursing home when they like it especially because you dont know how they are treated once you leave. They residents are able to hang out in their rooms and watch tv or go to the common room, where we spent most of our time during the visit. The staff even offered us a snack while we were there and came over to chat with us. It was very homey and comforting. I would choose this nursing home for a family member of mine if the time comes and they need somewhere to go. I think it all really depends on the staffing taking care of the residents.
