Request an interview with staff and caregiver before signing on. Get a financial contract spelling out the actual costs. Don't assume they'll stand by anything discussed verbally, because they won't. Services our mom received were subpar, communication with agency was non-existent. We signed up for 4 days, first two days were just ok (aide fell asleep the second day), aide no showed 3rd day and we never got a call from the agency so we decided to cancel. In the end, it cost my mom $800 because they wouldn't refund any of the deposit.

Optimal Home Health Care was really good, and I had them for my father the longest for two months. They were cheaper and did one hour, which I appreciated, but then they took it back and said they couldn't do the one hour anymore. They wanted to raise their price an hour, so I let them go. They had home health aides, people who would do light housekeeping, a bath and a shower, and personal care.
