The facility was really nice. It cost a lot, but it was truly worth it. My grandma loved how independent you could be while still living in a nursing home. There were 3 levels of it and she was in the first, the most independent one. She made flowers, and did a lot of things she enjoyed. She also gardened and was able to decorate her room openly. All the staff members knew her name and really liked her and she liked them. The food was spectacular with a free room and a room in which you could go to take your relatives and pay for; it was much classier. The facility was in a great town and had many options to take your relatives to in order to relax. The building was always clean and I really enjoyed visiting it. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
A Frequent Visitor

This facility mostly provides assisted living for seniors who also need some type of additional care; most residents seem to have some limitations, from mild to more serious.
When you walk in, there's a huge foyer with attractive rugs; the whole place has sort of a southwestern feel. But there's an immediate drawback: When visitors walk in, there is no one at the front to meet and greet them; the main desk takes a while to find.
The buildings are nice and well maintained. There are trees and green grass on the grounds"”along with a gazebo and chairs, but residents don't seem to find it very inviting to sit around.
There are a number of different housing configurations available, from studios to three bedroom units.
The food gets a B minus. There is no organic food and not many choices are offered each day.
There are a lot of wellness programs available on site, and also a heated indoor pool and whirlpool along with trainers for exercise.
While there is 24-hour nursing care, you often have to push for more help, and the place seems a bit short-staffed. However, those on duty do seem genuinely concerned about the residents, including their emotional health.
Brookhaven may be great for people who need some nursing care, but not such a good fit for those who are more independent.
